I know that every cruise line has sail away parties.
I would like to know which cruise line you sail and what the parties are like.

Cruising is a wonderful way to enjoy retirement!!
Stopped counting after 110 cruises.
My first cruise was on the Disney Wonder and the sail away party was just like I had imagined.Originally Posted by Krazy Kruizers

Disney had music, streamers, bubbles ect.
then we sailed Carnival just a few months later and it was kind of a let down. I was still expecting streamers, music etc....
they had a steel drum band but they couldnt be heard throughout the whole ship...
Seems like it differs from ship to ship. On our Alaskan cruise (Sapphire Princess) there was piped in music (Sail away by Enya). On some other cruises, there was a band playing on deck. On our last cruise, I was at a small cruise critic meet and then we went outside on the Promenade Deck and watched us leave San Pedro. So I don't know what party was going on, upstairs at the pool decks.

One of the best ones we had was several years ago when we sailed out of Vancouver on NCL and they played "North to Akaska" at the party.

Lately we have been disappointed in HAL's sail away parties. They already have pre-made, watered down drink specials which seems to be only mojitas in a special plastic glass (which you can keep) for a BIG price. And these mojitas are offered on cruises other than the Caribbean and Mexico - they were on our Alaskan cruises!!
When we asked for the drink of our choice it took forever for them to pour a Grey Goose or even a Stoli's on the rocks and deliver it to us.

I have not seen streamers in years!
Most ports do not allow them because of them landing in the water.
On RCL there is usually a band up on deck while sailing away.

Seems Heaven's a little closer in our home on the sea!
I agree!! Going out of Ft. Lauderdale is terrific.
I enjoyed the midnight sail away party from Nassau Bahamas last year on board the Celebration.
There was an 11.p.m. buffet on lido deck with music, dancing everyone having fun.
The Fascination was docked next us and their music was drifting over to our ship,we could hear the passengers and sounded like they had a good party going on also..
