    Crown Princess cabin fire

From Cruise Junkies events at sea, June 20th

From a reader: My friend is on board the Crown Princess Mediterranean Explorer itinerary. She emailed me this morning with the following information: "Yep- we heard it from the head of passenger services - there was a fire on board this morning. We heard an announcement that said "immediate containment in room---" Later we were in the Sky Walker lounge and the head of passenger services was there to chit chat again and he volunteered the information. Story is- woman smoking in her room was collecting her ashes in a napkin and wrapping them up to put in the trash can. Destroyed her room. She is being escorted off tomorrow and charged for the repair of the room. He then told us about the sensors to pick up candles and then smoke!!
Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

Not being a smoker, I'm just wondering if it isn't standard for a smoker to squish out the butt (like in an ashtray) because placing it into a trashcan. Was she trying to hide her smoking from her cabinmate?

That was what I figured. I never heard of wrapping a cigarette or the ashes into a napkin.

UGH That is so stupid. Imagine what she does at home. Glad I am not getting that bill plus she had to get home from the port that she was dropped off at.

Knuckle head. This will be her most expensive cruise ever. Bet she can't afford another after this one.

    LOL Regggie.

CRAZY, Why didn't she just use a soda can if she didn't have an ashtray. She needs to be charged for the fire in her room.

Just told hubby about this and he laughed, then asked what her hair color is. (just in case any blondes want to string him up, I'm quickly pointing out that I am a bottled dark blonde)

Looks like this is going to be one very expensive cruise for this stupid woman.

It sounds like she was flicking her ashes into a napkin, not squishing the cigarette butt out in it. But those ashes can still be hot and can cause a fire. She could have saved herself a lot of money just by asking her room steward for an ashtray.
