I agree with what MD11F said - plan to spend about 3 hours eating dinner. Alot of people complain because they say it takes too long. They've gotten so use to fast food, they don't know what it's like to sit down and enjoy a truly wonderful meal.

So, if you're in a hurry, impatient, or get tired quickly, don't do this.

But if you want to spend some quality time with your spouse and/or friends while eating scrumptious cuisine, they you will thoroughly enjoy the experience.

We did a wine-tasting dinner on one of our cruises with Holland America. The cost was $75 per person, but well worth it. It was by far the best meal we have ever had anywhere - on land or on sea. It took 3 hours and we had an 8 course meal that was beyond belief while enjoying different wines with each course.

With all this talk about the specialty restaurants, it's making me hungry for one of them!!

Thanks everyone!!

My Signature Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

Thanks! Will do, Ken.

I tried finding your name as I hate using only a userid, but couldn't find it in your profile.

Pete and Ken .... Thanks!

Another Question Please: Do Crown Grill and Sabatini's get booked quickly? Should we make a big effort to book the nights we want as soon as we board the ship?

Yes, they do book quickly, especially on formal nights. My suggestion is if you have a particular night you want to do this, go there first thing when you get on board and make your reservations. You can always cancel, but it's better to have a reservation and cancel than need one and find out they're all booked.

You'll find everything there on formal nights. Some people book it because they don't want to get all dressed up in formal attire, while others think if they're going to get dressed up, they might as well do the fancy restaurants. We've eaten in speciality restaurants on just about every night, including formal nights, and I've never worn a suit.
