    Good beach in Cozumel?

We are visiting Cozumel in June, on Oasis, and as this is our LEAST favourite port (it has changed beyond recognition since we first visited it 13 years ag. Now it is all Crazy Frog and loud music and nothing like the real Cozumel of old) we would just like to find a nice beach not too far away, with calm sea and a decent sandy area that is easy to get to and safe. We have hired a car before and driven round the island but this time want something easy.

    Does anyone have any suggestions?

PS Slip of the finger in the title of the thread, it should have been CozumeL not CozumeN. Sorry!

    Typo fixed.

I hear ya about Cozumel not being the way is was...of course, nothing stays the same, but the changes there are not good...in my opinion. Now, we just stay onboard the ship when we call at Cozumel.

Hope someone can give you directions to a nice, unspoiled beach.

Hope this helps. We are going to Nachi Cocom in Cozumel. I've read tons of reviews and they are all very positive, It's a pay one price for the day and all you can drink + a three course meal is included. Here's a video: YouTube - ‪Nachi Cocom Beach Club, Cozumel Mexico‬‏

We can't wait to go, here are the reviews:

Everyone I've ever met who had been to Nachi Cocum LOVED it! You do have to book it independently and provide your own transportation.

Passion Island is an excursion offered through the ship by most cruise lines. We were there several years ago and enjoyed our day. The sand was quite white and the water was pretty and clear. It's a nice safe place to go. That's where we'll probably go when we are on our Cozumel port stop in January.

I liked the beach at the Tulun ruins. Most of the people there are the locals and it was not very crowded or "polluted" with tourist activities once you get past the hucksters in front of the ruins.

It is a way away though.

Actually we just booked the ruins, but for $20 more we could have added the beach. As hot as it was, we should have. We saw it below the ruins and there were a few people taking the cutoff to the beach so I poked ahead and looked down on them. Nice sandy beach and the water looked very cool and refreshing.

    Thanks Neal!

While we'd like to give that beach a try, we have no desire to go to another Mayan Ruins!

I think there are trips just to the beach, but it is a drive and I am sure there are some closer!

Thanks for all your suggestions. The beach looks gorgeous. We may hire a car and drive ourselves there as everything is so close and there is only one road so it should be reasonably easy to find.

Do you have to pay the resort once you get there?

Lulu, on our first ever cruise we took our children to the Mayan ruins (Christmas time) and a very interesting guide started to talk about the ruins whilst we stood and listened. Then we noticed everyone was slapping their arms and legs, and people were moving away. Then we noticed we were being badly bitten by mosquitos. They were eating us alive. We stood as long as we could but had to give in and go back to the coach. By the time we left the poor man was left with about 2 people standing listening. It put us off going back! The huge bites on our arms and legs lasted most of the cruise! Not a pretty sight.
