    Cozumel [off the Tourist Path]

Will be visiting Cozumel this November.
    Have been several times.
Have done the shopping, beaches, all inclusive resorts, snorkeling, etc...

This trip, we would like to visit the non-touristy parts of Cozumel.
The place where the Cozumel residents live.

Would love to hear some feedback from those who have been intimately acquainted with
    this island.....

    Tks !

Sorry ... Wish I could help but we always do the "Tourist Thing"!

Feel certain there are MANY taxi drivers who would love to take you on the sort of tour you described!

If you haen't alreaady sailed, check out this website, which has an intresting list of shops, along with pictures, descriptions, and directions.

    Cozumel Cruiser Shopping Tips

    FROM the above page:

If you stick only to (shops) on your cruise ship's "approved list" (read stores that kick back a sizeable percentage of sales) , you'll miss a lot of bargains and one-of-a-kind merchandise and crafts. . . .

. . . bring a good sun hat and walk on the ocean side of the street

. . . although San Miguel's downtown waterfront is lovely, you will generally not get the best prices if you shop here. You'll have a far more rewarding shopping experience both in terms of prices and ambience if you avoid what the locals call "the sidewalk shuffle" and head off on your own.

Venture up the backstreets of downtown where you'll find more one-of-a-kind items. And people are actually ready and willing to bargain
