New perspective on the Cozumel ferry!

We are currently spending 2 weeks in Playa Del Carmen at the Playcar Palace which is RIGHT next door to the ferry building. (see attached pix)

What we witnessed yesderday alone, were 2 of the ferries stuck--yes, 2 of them in the sandbar! 1 for over 2 hours and 1 for almost 2 hours! All I could think of were the 4 cruise ships in town & how many pax weren't on ships tours over here.

Having watched this ordeal from my pool chair--I would STRONGLY recommend taking a ship tour if you are coming to this side, they have no control over the tide and some of the pool people here say they see it happen often!!!

    Hope ths helps some one.

    hi Lulu,

Love your posts they are very helpful, This is my first cruise. We are leaving from New Orleans on NCL and stopping in Costa Maya & Conzumel. Are we able to just take a taxi to a public beach? & if so, which ones do you recommend.
    thanks,
    Brigitte

Most probably they were not stuck, there are no sandbars there we asked, but the boats seem to take mainland tours to Playa del Carmen and wait in front of the city for the tours to come back...
