    Smile Pancho's Backyard - REPORT

What a great place for lunch in Cozumel -- excellent food & service plus a lovely atmosphere filled with fountains and tropical plants and a live Marimba band!

Someone mentioned it was the "Carlos'N Charlies" for the older crowd!

We were with our long time best friends so we did ... at our water's suggestion ... quite a bit of food sharing ... after ordering our drinks -- beer for the boys and huge perfectly made margaritas for the girls.

First, we had a sampler platter and a variely of dips with chips. Their guacamole has to be the BEST on the planet!

Then, our waiter brought us the main course -- TWO large plates with fresh grilled fish & fish tacos on one AND their steak & chicken specalities on the other.

If you like traditional Mexican Food, you'll love Pancho's Backyard!

Note: On their menu they list the awards they've won. Also, noticed as we were leaving, many coming had reservations for lunch.

If I don't know the answer I'm fairly certain I can find it.

I'm doing the Dolphin Swim at Chankanaab Park during the afternoon, and would like to hit Pancho's Backyard for Dinner (we dock at noon, so I wouldn't have time to go there for lunch before the swim). Where is Pancho's in relation to the port (RCCL) and Chankanaab? I'm assuming a taxi driver could take me there if I got in & said "Pancho's Backyard"? What time would be good to miss the big dinner rush?

    Thanks!

No problem! Just say "Poncho's Backyard" to your taxi driver.

It's on the main drag in town ...about a 10 minute or so (depending on traffic) taxi ride from the International Pier.

It's in town ... unfortunately, not real close to a beach.

The town overlooks the water ... but it's not a beach.

Always HAPPY to send you frubals because you post OnTopic! My problem is getting that 5-in-the-middle!

On your Cozumel question I've bumped-up "Our Fun Day In Cozumel" (just scroll ... right here on Cozumel - Cruise Places) which has taxi info from the cruise pier (International Pier) to town. Hope it helps a bits. Please feel free to ask there if you have any other questions ....

We did Playa Azul which is just a short 5 minute cab ride down the strip from Pancho's. The entrance is free - they just expect you to order some drinks when you use the free umbrellas and chairs.
