I've swam with the dolphins twice. When we booked our first cruise I had told my TA I didn't care where we went as long as I could swim with the dolphins. It is truly amazing. They are the most amazing creatures. That's how I came up with my username. You will have a great time, since it's as they say än experience of a lifetime."

It doesn't sound to me like the Dolphin Encounter is worth the money - FOR ME. But, it woud be great for Hubby, who is a water wuss. I think I would prefer the Dolphin SWIM.
In the same way, I prefer the 'Snorkel with the Stingrays' excursion in Nassau to the 'Stand around among the Stingrays' excursion in Grand Cayman. I'd still do the Cayman Stingray stand when we port there, but it is the Stingray Snorkel in Nassau that I really get off on, because you are truly swimming with them.

I wll agree with you. I did the Royal Swim and it was the most awesome experience of my life. I was disappointed with the encounter since there isn't alot of interaction. I definitely plan on doing the swim again. Enjoy!!!!

We did this(Cozumel) last April with our(at the time) 9 year old DD. She loved it. And it was worth the money to see her face. She even got to keep her snorkel and take it home. It has their name on it and she uses it with her mask here in the pool. We bought the DVD that they made. She is in it a lot.

DH and myself did this the previous year in Cozumel as well.

Another thing about the park is that they have a beach for kids to play at and swim. They also have sea lion shows and so on.

Here is the link to the park we went to. http://www.dolphindiscovery.com/cozumel/activities.asp

Hope you find it helpful.

Is this open?

You might want to verify this is open. We drove by their facility on 1/13/2006 and it appeared to be severely damaged. It did not look open.

We did this on our last cruise to Cozumel, and it was an absolutely amazing adventure! Also the most expensive, which we expected, so we signed up for less expensive tours at other stops. We spent a freakin' fortune on the photos -- well over $150, because we bought them all, plus the video. Well worth it, though, for a once-in-a-lifetime event.

This park was devastated by hurricane Wilma! The dolphins were moved over to the mainland before the hurricane. According to this link from over at Cruise Critic, they probably won't be open until May.
