Well this is a Great Port and I am not sure if we are going to get to go there.
Who can tell us what it is like now?
The parks, beaches, scuba diving, snorkeling, tendering?
What is it feeling there?
Is the curfew still in place?
Please tell us of your experences pre and post!

Brother just got back from the Enchangment earlier this week, with a stop in Cozumel.

He said there was still a great deal of obvious hurricane damage, thoug most of the shops are open.
All ships still tendering.
One pier nearly finished, one more in progress.
Said large portions of the island looked like there had been a huge fire, except that the tree trunks weren't charred - just stripped completely of vegetation (still).
Other ares looked quite good.
He still enjoyed it, and it still has a great deal of natural beauty to offer, in spite of the damage.
They didn't snorkel...

We just returned from a five-day on Grandeur of the Seas, stopping in Cozumel. There's still a lot of damage, but they've come a long way. We were the first RCI ship to be able to dock since the hurricane. Other ships, including a Norwegian and Carnival, had to tender.

The beaches aren't back to picture-postcard status by any means. The downtown looks totally back to normal except for rather pathetic semi-decapitated palm trees. The snorkeling and diving are supposed to be just as good. A big part of the island, which you see on the highlights tours, looks like Beirut -- wiped out, no power lines, etc. The insects are horrible because the bird population was wiped out by Wilma and there's a gap in that food chain. Overall, however, the citizens there have done remarkably well.

Look what Carnival is offering in Cozumel!

This is your opportunity to ride the most exciting human transport vehicle around today, the SEGWAY.
On this excursion you will:
  • Meet your guide at the pier and follow them a short distance to the starting point.
  • Be given an orientation, operating instructions and a safety briefing that will be provided by the professional guides.
  • After a practice session with your Segway follow the guide on a scenic bike track that parallels the Caribbean Sea to Uva’s Beach.
  • Upon arrival the guide will provide an orientation to this relaxing spot and the many activities that are available, such as snorkeling, kayaking or simply relax and work on your tan at this white sand beach.
  • This excursion provides a guided snorkeling tour (snorkeling gear is included) and soft drinks such as purified bottled water and sodas are served along the Segway ride.
  • Enjoy the beach for as long as you like, once a taxi coupon will be provided so you can return to the ship.
Note: For your safety you must be able to walk unassisted and without any orthopedic device to participate on the tour.
The minimum age to participate is 12 years old and the maximum age limit is 65 years old. The minimum weight limit is 100 pounds and the maximum weight is 250 pounds.
The excursion departs from the Puerto Maya pier. If the ship is docked or tendering to a different location, a short taxi ride will be required and it is included in the tour price.
Please bring a towel and adequate sun protection. This excursion is not recommended for pregnant women.

we're on an RCI ship and they are offering it, also. I'd be interested in that but I want to know which beach they end up at first because we are meeting another bunch of folks there.
