I do recall reading about this ship launching this year. It's sister to the Costa Concordia, which is built with the same hull design as the Carnival's Conquest class ships.
The Fortuna and Magica are built with the same hull design as Carnival's Destiny Class ships, while the Atlantica and Mediterreania are designed after Carnival's Spirit class ships.

The number of deliveries for this year, plus ships under construction and ordered, is absolutely mind-boggling!

Everyone is going to have a LOT of new choices in the near future!

Sheila, we were told last week on the Magica, that Costa plans to add as many as 15 new vessels in the near future. I do know that Carnival has plans to market many of it's European brands in the US market soon.
The sale of Windstar Cruises is expected to be final sometime in the second quater of 2007.

Wow! - 15 new ships for Costa alone?
    That's stunning news, Ken!

Sheila, let me modify what I said previously. They started in 2000, but I don't recall the end year mentioned, which means there are 9 more after the Costa Serena.
That means the Costa Atlantica(2000), Mediterranea(2003), Fortuna(2003), Magica(2004), Concordia(2006), and now the Serena(2007), are part of the 15 new ship order.

    Oh, ok - 9
But, you know, that's a lot of ships to have in the 'hopper.' Even if they've only committed to a couple of those over the next couple of years, it's still quite an agressive plan.

Yes, 9 more is a lot, and a very aggressive plan indeed.
