We will be on the Coral April 13, and will spend a day in Limon. I have read about Charlie Soto on CC. My husband hates tours. He wants to snorkel, he read "somewhere" that Costa Rica had the "best" snorkeling. Charlie can give us a "private" tour, a driver and a trip to Cahuita National Park...white sand beach and snorkel....his price is $49, the nat'l park admission is $25 for the snorkel, he says everything is included, an air conditioned taxi only for me and my husband...also refreshments, beer....he says it takes 1 hour to get to Cahuita, and the total tour will be 6 hours.... Any input? I know Rog will NOT sit in a tour bus, and I was thinking this might be a good way to see some of the island, but now Rog is saying...."it takes an hour to get to the snorkel beach???" I need help!!!!

I can't knock Charlie Soto for his tours, as I've never been on one. From what I've read, they're good. However, I don't think it's quite ethical to walk from your previous employer and take the company's entire email contact list with you and use it to go into competition.
Here's a recent email from the sister of my favorite private tour operator in Costa Rica, Oscar Brown. We've booked with them 3 times now and had a blast each time.
He's changed a couple of things on his tours in the last year:
Rather than using Almonds & Corals for ziplining, he's using Brisas. I've done both, and prefer the new site for both the fun factor and the comfort.
He's also got a new restaurant he's using for lunches now. If I were to go back to CR, I'd make a point of stopping there just for the food, but the view is fantastic, too.
If you don't see something here you wanted to do, or want to play "mix and match", they're very flexible. Just ask.

Upcoming cruises:
Vision of the Seas Oct 29, 2006 Mexican Riviera
Grand Princess April 21, 2007 Caribbean Emerald Princess Oct 7, 2007 Venice, Italy to Ft Lauderdale FL 17 day transatlantic
Well, I booked the "private" tour with Charlie Soto before your replies, I can always cancel or change...he said we would have our own taxi and would be taken wherever we wanted to go, including snorkeling and the canal ride, for 6 hours for $49 per person....would love to know who your tour guide was.....
What was the comment about Charlie being unethical? Could you tell me who he used to work for when this happened?

Probably said more than I should have already, but it's been bugging me for a couple of years now. Please email at earl dot anderson at comcast dot net and please use Charlie Soto in the subject so I don't get fouled up on the context of the conversation!
