The highlight of my whole cruise, and the fricken Costa Rican dock workers woud not let our ship dock. Seems they went on strike. When the captain tried to use his own crew to tie down to the dock, they threatened them with guns! We backed out of there in a hurry. No coffee for me now. I was going to buy 50 pounds. Lots of tours were planned, all tour deposits and port charges were refunded. Many unhappy passengers here on the Zuiderdam.

Did this just happen? I haven't seen any news of this.

To top things off, which gave us another day at sea, it stormed all day and was cold.

What a "HAL" of a bad experience for your "Dam" ship in Costa Rica !

Those passengers would have been more unhappy if they would have gone ashore and then had their access back to the ship blocked. There are some things that are just out of the control of the cruise lines and people should learn to just accept that.

Why Z-Dam even tried to dock with a bunch of gun-carrying disgruntle men all over the place is beyond me!

Pretty sure Gene is mad cuz he didn't get his Costa Rican coffee. He was really planning on it.

USA Today reported on the strike on Oct. 22nd naming the HAL ship as the first to be turned away. Workers want more money. Ships to visit Costa Rica port of Limon in the next month are Celebrity Equinox, Carnival Miracle, Carnival Freedom and Royal Caribbean Jewel of the Seas. I would not be in a hurry to put down a deposit on a private tour in this port until things quiet down. Lee
