Limon, Costa Rica -- Your Opinion

If you wish, PLEASE give your reasons. They could be helpful to those who have not been but are considering going there.

While not horrid, we aren't fond of having Limon as a port stop. There's nothing there that we haven't already done that we'd like to do again. We didn't really enjoy them the first time!

Lulu, only been there once. We weren't impressed at all. We took a bus ride to the rain forest and the poverty we saw on the way was rather depressing. Not too clean either. I wouldn't go back.

We did the canal tour booked through Princess. Decent tour, but nothing out of the ordinary. Did get to see a banana plantation close up. Not one of our favourite ports, but Costa Rica is a beautiful country, so I'd like to see more of it.

I am still looking forward to my first visit there.
Have heard incredible things about the Cloud Forest... which is, I think, actually a rain forest at a high elevation.

Is that the excursion they call "The Green Train" ... but it's really BLUE?

As othrs have said, the poverty is terrible and sad to see. We have been there 3 times, but the tours are much to long for us, DH is disabled and can't do too many things. We do enjoy their "flea market" that is right there, so many nice things to buy! Being there 3 times we thought it was safe to go outside the gates and walk across the street to thier town, but the last time, DH was warned to remove his bracelet, because the person warning him, who lived there, noticed some men outside watching him. thankfully it started raing ral hard, and eveyone went away, so we made a mad dash back to the ship, soaked, but safe. Just a warning for those who like to venture outside the gates. These people are very poor so we look like $$$$$$ to them.

I have been there once and would like to go back.

We took a tour with a local and went down a canal, saw a banana plantation and some nice views. I saw a young sloth in a tree. I would like to go back to the sloth sanctuary. I think they are adorable critters.

I thought the market at the end of the pier was excellent. We bought wooden puzzle boxes and coffee.

We have been there a couple of times. Don't mind the place.

The first time we were there we did the Tortuguero Canal tour -- loved it.
