Costa Pacifica April 18 - Eastern Med

    Hi All,

We're leaving Civitavecchia on Pacifica - April 18 - bound for Greece, Israel and Turkey.

    Who's with us?

Hi there, I think you might find the Costa Roll Call slow down a bit with the recent accident. I do hope you're still looking forward to your cruise and don't have any fears to calm.

Please let us know if you do and maybe we can help out. The itinerary of your cruise is such a lovely one - jealous!

Sorry, but this might be a hard cruise to find others for. Good luck, though.

Well we'd already put down our deposit, and we figure that safety will be utmost in everyone's mind going forward.
And if booking is really slow, I don't have any objections to having Pacifica all to ourselves. ;^) Hopefully they will be bending over backwards for those who choose to board a Costa ship so soon after this debacle.

But given what I've seen and heard about Costa Crociere's handling of the situation - how they pretty much threw the captain AND crew under the bus within 24 hours and the complete lack of support for the stranded passengers - I probably won't be cruising with Costa again.

Granted the captain deserves to be thrown under the bus, but it took less than 12 hours for them to throw all the blame on him by name in their statement. No way could any kind of balanced investigation into what happened be done before that. It was CYA time. A good company has faith in their employees and backs them up until wrongdoing is proven.

    Disgusting from top to bottom.

I think there was just too much evidence against the captain on this one to even begin thinking that he might not be at fault. It is a sad situation all around. I am sure 99.9% of all crew members are honest, hard working people and at least 75% of upper management falls into that same category. It would be a shame for the line to be tarnished by the actions of a few.

I'm so glad the community here was able to help you in your decision making process during this "unique" period.

I can't wait to hear about all the fun you have.

For those that haven't read through some of the discussion surrounding the issue of Cruising on Costa - peruse this thread: http://www.cruiselinefans.com/costa-...ing-costa.html (Cruising on Costa?)

Well it was never an issue of whether to cruise. And going to Israel is the main reason for choosing this cruise - most other lines are repositioning during mid-April.

And prices didn't fall dramatically - at least not on Costa's Med cruises.

So it's all good. I would like to try some other lines, but they are either too expensive or don't have the itineraries we are interested in.
