    Smile Costa Mediterranea

I cruised on the Med in March. Loved every minute of it. The service was fantastic...in the dining room, first night we asked for coffee with our entree, from then on, when the entree was served, so was the coffee.

The shows were a bit weak. The best was the cruise staff show. They outdid the professionals!

The excursions were well planned and organized. Decided to go through the ship the first time, and were glad we did. Had nothing to worry about.

The room was very nice and the room steward made sure everything we needed was there. The veranda was great...when we were tired, we'd go out and watch the water or other ships.

Would I cruise Costa again? In a heartbeat.

Welcome to CLF. The Costa Mediterranea is the Equivalent to Carnivals' Spirit-Class ships (Carnival owns Costa) and I've read reviews where people who have sail this class ship with Carnival prefer them over the Conquest and Destiny class. I've also been told by a travel agent that the Italians are not big on shows. I've never sailed with them, but I've seen this ship and the Costa Magica here in Ft. Lauderdale this winter on Caribbean itineraries.

CLFers may have a chance to cruise on this ship with other CLFers next April.

The Mediterranea is one of the ships we have to choose from on our latest-to-be-organized group cruise.

    See THIS THREAD for details.

Voting is now open to choose one of four options...

I've been 6 times in Costa and the last time was 2 years ago on the Mediterranea going the Western Caribbean. I booked a cabin with verandah and 2 weeks before the cruise they upgraded us to a Panorama Suite. It was wonderful.

    I love Costa

Why not come along with some CLF friends next spring?
Or - if you can't committ right now - at least visit the thread and let everyone know about your experience on this ship, so that others can make a more informed voting decision.

I know your input would be welcomed!

Thanks for your invitation but my vacations are always for December, that's why all my cruises are in that month. I've been on 22 cruises and this December I have booked for 2 more. All the information that you need that I can help you, just write and I will happy to answer back. My first cruise with Costa was on 1987 (Carla Costa).

Since you have also been on Rhapsody of the Seas (One of our choices) and a couple of other RCI ships, could you give a little comparison, in general terms, of Royal Caribbean and Costa.

And, then, could I copy and paste it into the group cruise thread, so people could read about that as they are deciding which ship to vote on?

(Or you could just post it there yourself if you prefer.)

I can tell you about Costa in the route in the Caribbean. I don't know how is the cruise in other places. About the 2 cruise lines, they are very different one of another. Some persons don't like Costa because all the messages to the passengers they give them in different languages (at least 5 of them when the ship is in the Caribbean). I've never seen a Maitre'D so close and friendly with the passengers that those working with Costa. In that they are #1. The last night they celebrate the Roman Baccharal night with people using toga like roman people and it is fun. I think that Royal and Costa are some different. Remember Costa is italian. I like it, that's why it is my favorite.

Any other question, I am here.

What route did you did on the Romantica? The 2 times I went on the Western Caribbean has been with the line of Costa. The other ship I went was Costa Victoria.
