I hope everyone enjoys Costa Maya while they can: There are land for sale signs everywhere, and a local man told us they are scheduled to start building a 3500 room resort and casino there in the Fall. It will all be downhill after that.

I really don't care for the fake port mall, but get completely away from the port and it is a charming part of the Yucatan Peninsula. Quintana Roo has only had electricity for the last 5 years!!! It is definitely going to evolve, so enjoy that sweet sort of charm the area has quickly.

Of course one could also buy some land, it probably is a lot less expensive now than say 5 years from now. Particularly if they are going to build a casino. Does Mexico have lots of casinos? We did notice the real estate office right in the fake port mall.

We loved Costa Maya also! We took the ruins tour through the Grand Princess, ship. It was great! There is a nice little beach there right at the dock! Great place! We'd like to go back!

I found some greata snorkeling there last April.
Can't wait to go back on the Valor Week after next.

Here's the little picture and 'blurb' about Costa Maya that is on the Vacationstogo website:

Mysterious ruins rescued from the jungle, monkeys announcing themselves from the trees, incredibly beautiful and rare birds, pristine beaches and a magnificent coral reef are just some of the attributes of the Costa Maya. This southern section of the Yucatan coast stretches 80 miles from Xcalak, a fishing village on a finger of land reaching out to Belize. The reserve's untouched forests and wetlands are home to a wide variety of birds, crocodiles, jaguars and monkeys as well as numerous Mayan sites.

Exclamation Link for Costa Maya

I was reading one of my Travel Magazines and it has a link for Costa Maya.

Land of Adventures

It has a little info on the port and brings back memories for those that have been there.

Just returned recently and got a real good deal at DI for my wife with a 14K white gold wedding band.

Next month will be my third time there.

Previous times, we did our own thing - snorkeling with a privately booked guide the first time, and enjoying Majahual the secont time.

This time, we've tooked David and Ivan to show us the ruins, and then take us to visit a little school in their home town. Eventhough I normally have a real hard time skipping an opportunity to snorkel, I am actually looking forward to this one.
