    Question Will we recognize Majahaul?

Help for those of us who haven't been to Majahaul (the little fishing village) since Hurricane Dean!

Has it been restored? What's it like now? Will we even recognize Majahaul?

Don't remember when Hurricane Dean was. When was the last time you were there?

If I don't know the answer I'm fairly certain I can find it.

It is probably rebuilt to an even better standard than it was then. Of course that standard was pretty low. But, hey it is a quaint little village that is supplying some pretty good service and a fun day. At least better that staying in the pier complex.

I wouldn't mind going back there again. The last time we were there was November of 2003. I think there was 2 or 3 vendors selling beer and food with some pretty ratty chairs to rent on the beach. We only went into town to deliver a bunch of school supplies to the the school children and then headed right back to the pier complex. From the pictures I have seen lately Mahahual looks a lot more inviting.

All of Majahaul was destroyed by Hurricane Dean. It has been replaced with many new buildings and a new boardwalk instead of just a sand roadway. Much of the charm is still there though. The elementary school has been reconstructed. The kindergarten is completely new. Outside the village though remains a total disaster area without a tree standing. Majahual remains one of my favorite beach stops.

Thanks for your report! Great news Majahaul still has its charm! Also, that the schools are now in good condition.

Hopefully, the area outside of the village will be restored at some point....
