We were suppose to go to Cozumel but now we are headed for Costa Maya. I heard Cozumel is still recovering from the hurricaine. I was wondering if anyone had any favorite restaurants or shops. Or even places to just stay away from since time is limited. Liberty 2-11-07 !!! It's getting so close!
We enjoyed taking a tour of the Mayan ruins with David and Ivan, and then going to the beach at Majahual, which is just a short cab ride from the pier. I have pictures in my signature.

When you first get off the ship there is a very touristy cruise line-built area. It's well done, but very plastic. Here's a picture of some dancers performing there:
Near the center of the tourist court is a booth where you can buy excursions.
some of these are in the little fishing village of Majahaul, just a few minutes away from the pier area by taxi. Thie little village still has dirt streets - and a VERY industrious citizxenry! Many have set up shop along the beach wiwth tents and huts selling everything from beer to trinkets to carvings to snorkeling opportunities.
Here's a picture of the beach there - showing some vendor tents and huts ...
