Costa Magica-X1 card for Med Cruise

Greetings! Ticked pink about our upcoming cruise of the Western Med in late March. I have been pouring over all the various forums and have seen posts about the infamous "X1" drink card. I did read in one of the posts about booking 2 weeks in advance and the price was in USD. I was wondering if anyone knew if the price is the same or do I pay Euros? Also, do I need to contact the states to get it? (3 of us live here in the UK, the 4th in the US. We are all Americans)

    Hey Jenalib

Our Costa Guide is about to go on a cruise, but I'll alert him to your post to see if he can find out for you before he leaves.

Hi Jenalib, congrats on your upcoming cruise. You'll love the Magica, she's a very beautiful ship. I sailed the Eastern Caribbean aboard her in March, 2007. Please take a look at my pictures in the "Cruise Gallery". Just click the tab on the left top of this page.

To order the X1 Package, you must call Costa Special Services at 1-800-445-8020, ext 5009 to order, 14 days before sailing as you mentioned. You can have the person who lives in the US call the number above to order the package, or you can call Costa at their UK number. If you used a travel agent to book this cruise, you can also have them handle it for you.

The price is still the same, US$11.40 per person, per day, Unlimited drinks, served by the glass in the Main Dining Room or Self Service Restaurant during lunch and dinner only. You will need to ask Costa the equivalent cost in Euros. Since you live outside of the US, you can pay in the currency of the country in which you live, or, have the person in the US take care of everything and you all can settle with them later, providing you are not having a travel agent handle it for you.
The prices are in US dollars because their website here is for US residents and Travel Agents.

Hope this helps and have a great cruise in March.

    X1 card info

Thanks for the responses! I used to be a cruise specialist back in the late 80's but this is the first in a very long time. I did speak with Costa and was given a rate of about $98 USD for the week. Not too shabby, especially as I won't have to deal with the conversion rates!

You're welcomed. The X1 drink package is a good deal actually.
