    Smoking Guidelines for Costa Cruises

    Costa Cruises

Where You Can Smoke: Smoking is permitted on the open decks, in cabins, including balconies, and in designated smoking areas in most public rooms.

Where You Can't: All restaurants and show lounges are non-smoking.

    EDIT

Just checked the Costa site to see if theere have been any changes. As of 1/20/12 this is the wording:

Is it possible to smoke onboard?

In the Theatres, Restaurants, Buffet Restaurant (indoor), corridors, halls, lifts and in the stairwells smoking is strictly forbidden.

There are reserved smoking areas in the lounges.
Pipes and cigars may only be smoked in designated areas.
For fire and safety reasons please remember to put cigarettes in the ashtrays provided and never throw cigarettes overboard

Shoot that must be the worst smoking policies I have seen. I was contemplating them for the med.
has anyone sailed Costa and can provide a comment on presence of smoke ?

I got that directly from the Costa web site. It is pretty much allowed everywhere!

Just a guess on my part, but I think you would run into more smoking on a European itinerary than elsewhere.

Hopefully, someone will chime in who has actually sailed on Costa.

We have friends who are going in late spring, we will ask them of course. But the more opinions the better.
Guess I could check the cruise reviews here also.

I sailed on Costa Fortuna 2009 from Port Everglades to Savona, and had no problems with smokiers at all. I would be the first to moan, must have been OK as I noticed nothing.

When we sailed on Romantica abut six years ago. It had half the passengers the current ships do. I had read a lot of complaints about smoking but didn't notice it as a problem. Granted we didn't spend a lot of time in the casinos or discos - we did spend time in the shops and around the theater. And we ate early. We were pretty much off on excursions, at breakfast or dinner, or exhausted in our cabin.
