just booked my second cruise. this time it's on costa so any help you lovly people can give me will be much appreciated

Which ship? I see the itinerary is north Africa! What ports and how long is your cruise?

I haven't sailed Costa, but I'm sure Ken will be coming along with info for you

Hey, Smitty is cruising Costa, whoop, whoop. Ijust got the new Costa brochure for that part of the world this past weekend, so I'll go check his itinerary.

Smitty, all drink package info, is in the "Sticky" section in this main Costa forum.

ken i looked at the restaraunt wne package.....they obviously havn't met me yet!!!!!!
on another note would be interested on your comments of the overall feel of thf ship/line regarding 1 drinks prices generally 2excursions. we normally just wander bot a couple of the stops would be interested in maybe taking excursions.

KEN other thing i forget to ask how formal are yhey? we've only done freestyle

i'm off to see the colonel (ghadaffi). calling catania sicily, valletta malta, garbes tunisia, tripoli lybia, tunis tunisia, cruise aoelian islands and then back to etenal rome.

Not sailed Costa - although I like their sense of humour naming a ship "Costa Fortuna"!!!

Smitty - one thing you can be sure of - lot's of pasta and pizza!!!

scuzi?? i lived in italy for a year and a half, but that was a LONG time ago. we like rome a lot.been 5 times now . after barca it's my favorite city. talk grappa,stregaand brandyromano.

Smitty, I loved the Magica, was onboard for 1 week, and I just did a ship inspection of the Mediterranea last Sunday, and I love that ship too. Many americans do not like the Costa ships decor. I love them, it's Italian, and it's different.
Head over to the cruise gallery to see pictures I took when I was on the Magica. I'll post Mediterranea pictures probably sometime this weekend.

Drink prices & shore excursion prices are comparable to those on Carnival, Princess, etc. Remember, I sailed in the Caribbean, so I don't know how prices for shore excursions compare based on currency.

The Spa was definitely much more expensive, but I'd suggest you wait until the end of the cruise fr the great deal of three massages for US$99. Another thing that was very expensive was the DVD of the cruise.

On Formal nights, I wore a jacket & tie, as did many other men. Women woe a nice dress, some wore nice flat dress shoes, while others wore high heel pumps with & without stockings. That applies to the Specialty Restaurant also(if there's one on your ship).

Btw, I was in Valletta, Malta last November. It's a nice ancient city. We were in Malta for 1 week up in Golden Sands. There's a resort there. Took the ferry operated by Virtu Ferries to Pozzallo, Sicily for 1 day and did a land excursion to Mt Etna, and Modica. Also took the Gozo ferry to Gozo, one of the 3 islands of Malta.
