Hi, we are going on our first cruise in two weeks and so far the reviews for Costa majica have been terrible for the Mediterranean cruises. Is it as bad as the reviews say?

Hi, I can't speak of the Med. but I can tell you we had a good time on the Costa Magica in the E. Caribbean last year March. Please remember this, when Costa is in Europe, they cater to the Europeans. That's their home, so I would say, have an open mind and make the most of your cruise. You will be dealing with a different culture.
I will be on my second Costa cruise, first in the Med. in October this year, and I'm looking forward to it.

As the X1 card is not available under Special Services on the Website, I emailed the info address (Pacific Asia Operations) as I live in Australia. They were very helpful and added the cards to our booking.

There is a drink card called the X1 Individual Beverage Package (by the glass) which offers white and red house wines or draft beer, soft drinks and mineral water served by the glass in the dining rooms (with the exception of the “specialty” restaurant) or self-service restaurants during lunch and dinner only. The price is $13.96 per pax per day. It must be ordered in advance because it is not available for purchase onboard. There is also a Water Package of 13 bottles of mineral water for about $33. These need to be ordered at least 14 days prior to your sail date. You can order them by calling your booking agent or our Customer Services dept. at 1-800-462-6782.

Another "change" was reported to me from someone who called Costa twice on March 31 (the above update was on March 25), and was told the X1 card would no longer apply at the lunch buffet, but only in the dining room.

Bev, that was stated in the 'exception' above in the March 25th update.
