Hi Ken - I'm new to this forum and am just looking at all of them. We will be on Costa Fortuna 2-3 sailing for the Carribean out of Ft. Lauderdale. This is our first cruise with Costa. We found out about this line through our Italian Club and will be sailing with five other couples and I'm not sure how many club members. There is not very much info on this cruise line on any of the boards. But what little I have found there is a drink package that is supposedly available on Costa Cruise liine. It's referred to as the X1 drink package. Can you give me any info about it? Thanks

guardia40, Welcome to CLF.
I will be contacting Costa in the morning to get official info on this drink package. As far as I can tell, the X1 package is not available on Caribbean cruises. I have read reviews of people purchasing the X1 drink package, but on cruises in the Mediterranean & Europe.
Click on the link below and scroll down to post # 7, to see the drink package available on Caribbeaan cruises:

Hi Ken - Thanks for your response. I did view the site you suggested and you're right most of them are on Mediterranean & European cruises. Husband and I like a glass or two of wine with dinner so thought this drink package might be a little more cost friendly. One other question - can wine be taken on board in checked luggage. There are some cruise lines that allow one bottle per adult passenger to brought on board and then charge a corkage fee. There is not much info about this cruise line and the Carribean cruises as to what is acceptable/available.

Hi guardia40, I contacted Costa this morning and this is the info. their Rep. gave me:
The X1 drink package is available on All sailings, and must be purchased 14 days before your cruise date. It costs US$11.40 per person, per day, for an unlimited number of drinks. Price includes 'service charge'. See below.
Individual Beverage Package (by the glass) Lunch and dinner beverage package by the glass:$11.40* U.S.»
Beverage package can be ordered and paid before the cruise only and is for Individual Guests only (Specialty restaurants not included).
» X1 code will be printed on the passenger's Costa Badge.
» Includes white and red wines or draft beer, soft drinks, bottled water, all served by the glass in the Main Restaurant or Self-Service Restaurant during lunch and dinner.
You are correct, there is not much info. on Costas' website for the public to access.
However, in researching the wine issue, here's what I found:
Costa Cruises
• BYOB?: Guests may prearrange to bring a limited amount of wine.
• Corkage fee: $10 plus 15 percent gratuity
• Alcohol shopping: Ship will hold.
• Note: The drinking age is 21 for cruises departing from U.S. ports and 18 for cruises departing from non-U.S. ports.
Ken, glad to know someone is out there with Costa experience.
My DH, DS & BIL and friends of theirs, are booked on Fortuna for the 3/9/08 sailing out of FLL. I'm sure there will be a lot more infomation this fall and winter on Costa, but glad to know you are available now!!!
We have cruised Carnival, NCL, and Princess in the past. There have been several comments about Costa's food, line, etc on this and other boards not being "as good" as other lines. Personally, I'm looking forward to something a little different! Most of the other lines have become "cookie cutter". Don't get me wrong, I've loved every cruise I've been on, and will cruise whomever has the best price and itinerary!
Anyway, glad to know you are the Costa Guide. Keep up the good work!
