Rating preferences when it comes to champagne, cava or prosecco is really hard. Maybe we need to do some more indepth taste testing Although, I like your opinion Phil....it's all good. Frankly, I just like those bubbles. One of my favorite cocktail napkins says....."I don't want a champagne flute, I want a champage tuba". Gotta love it
Susie - hope you and Larry can come up with the name and directions for that cute place where you ate under the stairs. It looks like too much fun.
Weather forecast for this weekend is for very cold in our neck of the woods. Anyone else looking forward to Spring??
Susie, I am so looking forward to this cruise!!! By the way, your avatar is the picture I took of the two of you, isn't it? It's one of my favorites--a couple of very happy people sharing their joy of being on a cruise with good friends.
Garry
Yes, Garry, you are the wonderful photographer who snapped that shot... I mentioned it on the Owls board the other day... have to make sure that you were recognized as such! And I think you said something just before you snapped the picture that made us laugh... it is one of my favorites, too! And we will look forward to more great pics taken in September! I can hardly wait.

Pat
Pat, I definitely think an in depth taste comparison is in order... we will just have to pick up some cava and prosecco in Spain before we board the ship so we can do just that...
If Larry and I can't remember the name of the tapas place, I bet that our friends from Scotland can; they are the ones who discovered that quaint little spot... and who were there with us in the picture. And I am more than ready for spring... our forecast for Saturday is for a high of 6 degrees... sub zero at night.
Something tells me we're going to have a fabulous time in Barcelona. I'm looking forward to sangria too! We might even get Bob to have one of those. Last time we were in Barcelona, he got a little happy.
Pat/Susie, we're expecting some bad weather tonight too. They say it'll start out as heavy snow, then change over to sleet, and lastly the really ugly stuff starts--freezing rain with accumulation of ice to 1/4 inch. If I'm not on the board tomorrow, then the internet is down.

I could use some sangria tonight!
Garry
Here, Garry, just for you... now you could have some tonight if you like! (Although you may have to go back to the grocery store!)
White Sangria Recipe
1 bottle of Cava or Champagne ( very cold)
1 cup of freshly squeezed orange juice ( it also works well with cranberry juice).
2 oranges in wedges
2 apples in chunks
1 cup of water
½ cup of sugar
6 not too long cinnamon sticks
crushed ice
mint leaves
Heat the water, sugar and cinnamon sticks and let simmer for about 5 minutes. Let this cool off and then remove sticks. Chill overnight along with the Cava or Champagne. Mix all together and serve over crushed ice to liven up the taste buds! After pouring each one this refreshing party punch, decorate with a mint leave to put a touch of class to your sangria recipe.
Red wine sangria recipe
Ingredients for 4 persons:
1 bottle of chilled medium to good quality red wine
½ cup of sugar (may vary depending on sweet tooth ! )
1 can of an orange fizzy drink
1 can of a lemon fizzy drink
3 pieces of different fruits ( cut in wedges or chunks-it is not necessary to peel them)
1 tray of ice cubes.
Pour the bottle of red wine into a ceramic pitcher and stir in the sugar with the wooden spoon. Then add the ingredients in the order they are listed and stir again. The pieces of fruit are delicious for dessert, too.

I definitely think that SOMEONE should try one of each...
But Garry is right, I will drink the white sangria... have to avoid red wine.
When we were in Barcelona in September, we met up with a bunch of the CC people before we got on the ship the next day. We had drinks at one place, and then dinner at the Attic. The white sangria (made with cava) was absolutely wonderful... the name of that place was El Choquito... I vote we go there at some point if everyone wants to try it!
Well, it is gorgeous here right now, so going to get the dogs out for a walk before the bottom falls off the thermometer.
Take care, and somebody please have a drink!!

Susie, it sounds like a great plan to me. I'm sure Bob and I will want to go!
