Smile eating options

Hi all , Since Garry and Bob are leading the advance scout team to Barcelona,I thought I would ask them to check out a place that I found as a possible eating place.La Fonda seems to meet all of my criteria to try....close,good,moderately priced and Spanish. Here's a link.....La Fonda, Barcelona - Restaurants - VirtualTourist.com

Tom,
I sorted the reviews on most recent first and the only review in over a year was not good (no details - just "bad") and the third review said English wouldn't work (yet another post said they had menus in most languages).

My Spanish language skills are minimal. I can ask for a beer or the bathroom but that's about all. I can make a little more (very little) sense of the written words, but couple my lack of vocabulary with poor hearing and I am doomed in a conversation.

Now if either of you are proficient, we would probably be quite willing to try it. I do plan on asking the folks at the hotel for recommendations as they have been so helpful with reservations for the group.

We have one night on our own, then people start coming in, especially on Saturday. Monday will probably take care of itself as I am sure we will start peeling off for dinner in groups after the sangria block party. I sure hope we don't give Americans an even worse reputation after that! Can you imagine 50+ cruisers drinking in a loosely organized mob?

Does "Martini bar, 7:30pm to 8:29pm" ring any bells with you?

I miss last year's key lime drinks, and am gonna have to wait until I get down to the Keys next Spring. I've not been able to duplicate them here.

Also, as on previous cruises, I'm offering people my "cheat sheet" which is a smaller pdf or Word version of Bob's website. If you're interested in receiving one, let me know.

Bob and I will be in Barcelona 2 weeks from today.

Garry
Garry, somehow I missed the gathering for Sangria on the 8th....Bad Rick. I'm sure you'll keep us in line. But I would appreciate it if you would send me your PDF'd cheat sheet. I was just about to do something like that this morning and caught up with your post.

Chris, I also think you'll like the Franklin Institute....good choice. But I'm not a big fan of the Hilton at the airport....it's pretty long in the tooth....but certainly acceptable. If you like Hilton properties, there are also a Hampton and an Embassy Suites on the airport's hotel row on Bartram Ave. The Hilton and the Embassy have bars and restaurants and all have shuttles. I put up folks for about 500 nites a year at the airport and we're using the Hampton the most, but all major chains are well represented. (However, steer clear of the Marriott Residence Inn for security reasons.) The train to Suburban Stn is a good plan.

See you in Barcelona.
