I would like to know as well.

Even with all my RCL cruises I have not been there yet.

I am going in November so I will be able to comment before you go Jim.

Jim, it's gorgeous....lots to do or nothing to do, it's all up to you...when you arrive on the island by tender there are some little shops (the only thing on the island you will need cash for)...lots of stuff for kids to do and it's pretty busy. BUT, if you walk around to the other side of the island, and it's not a far walk, it's very peaceful, serene and beautiful. It gets prettier as the day goes on. There was a sandbar a couple hundred yards out and me and someone else braved the grasses and walked out to it!! By noon the sandbar was gone. There are some paths I walked and kept hearing little noises which turned out to be literally thousands of hermit crabs scurrying to the woods to get out of the sun. There are lots of chickens running around in the woods too! There will be a very nice bar-b-que buffet lunch (I carried my two plates back to the quiet side of the island)!! I know there are quite a few good pictures already posted in the gallery. I can't wait to back there one day!

My first time there will be on our girl's cruise in September. If the weather cooperates! (It didn't on the last cruise before the refurbishment.)

I'll report back then.

CocoCay description with clickable PHOTO LINKS

Click on any of the underlined words or phrases to see a related photo.

CocoCay is a little slice of paradise, and it's yours for the day, courtesy of our friends at Royal Caribbean.

There are no cars on Coco Cay. No trains. No asphalt paved streets. No politicians, or horse thieves either. There IS the occasionalIguana. But you have to look for them They aren't big on socializing.

On CocoCay Day, hope it's no stormier than this or you may end up staying on board.

There IS white, white sand (ground coral, really, it's not too soft) and birthday-cake turquoise icing colored clear, clear water. And tropical palms

You'll tender over on one of RCL's Coco Cutters.

As you tender in, you'll see the fountain in the tender harbor . Stepping off the tender, look right to find a small straw market made especially for those who just can't port without shopping. And to your left, is a place to grab a beach wheel chair, if you, or someone in your party should need it.

There will be a crew member at the tender disembarkation point to orient you to the island, and there are also numerous signs showing the way to varioius parts of the island.

Head fairly straight ahead, past one of the many watering holes, and past the dive shop to find your way to the main beach, where you can wade, beachcomb, float on a mat, or just relax.

If you are an active type, there are plenty of activities, including organized ones, like volley ball, (even a tournament), or individual ones, like snorkeling (you might even see an eagle ray!), parasailing, kayaking, and windsurfing. Of course, everyone's favorite cruise activity - eating - is a part of it too, as RCL provides a greatisland barbeque for you.

Head to your right from the main beach, where you'll find more watering holes, a water park, and farther along, more beaches that are less crowded, and offer hammocks.

As you can tell, I am a BIG fan of Coco Cay. I've even given instructions that my survivors are to book a trip on the Sovereign, and scatter my ashes in the water off Coco Cay, my idea of paradise.

I am with you on the spreading of the ashes!!! It quickly became my most favorite place in the world....my little piece of heaven.

I spent the entire day all by myself and it was wonderful!!! And you don't need a floating mat....you float just fine without it!!

By the end of the day, my hammock was completely in the water and that was awesome!!

One of the things I forgot to mention in the photo-essay above was the official drink of Coco Cay...

The Coco Loco. mmmmmmmmmmmm!

It's a must-try! You get a souveniour glass, which will all too soon be empty, as its contents go down a lot more smoothly than they have a right to!

They are SO good, that - eventhough I am not much of a drinker - I have quite a collection of these glasses at home.

Ohhh Laaa Laaa the CoCo Loco...total frozen, fruity rummy yumminess! They go down quite easy, esp. because it is usually hot outside! Oh, my goodness...my kids liked the non alcoholic ones...
