    Hi Everyone~

Thanks everyone for all your good thoughts and prayers. We realized that Mom being at home wasn't a good thing for her, so back to the hospital she went. She's now hydrated and has been evaluated for the time being. Her esophogus is extremely swollen, due to the radiation treatments, so getting nutrition into her is the main issue. But with liquid lidocaine (swallowed), she's slowly taking in a soft diet. Her pain level is actually quite tolerable for her now, and her spirits (and our's) are up right now. One step forward....

Payton is doing terrific. Boy, do babies bounce back quickly. She's rolling around on the floor like a spinning ball, and sleeping from 7:30 to 6 am. She's so ready to crawl anyday now. Dan got home from Florida...saw his Dr. and was told that it is extremely rare for adults to get this disease, and it was the worse case he ever saw. But today he feels better, and the blisters are healing. Phew.

And I got a flat tire yesterday! Not the end of the world, but just another glitch to deal with.

Ruth, hurray for Michael. It's so great that he'll be near you now. I'm really happy for both of you.

Susie, I saw on the news that the Chicago area was hit pretty hard with snow. Well you finally have your winter...like it or not.

Rosie, hang in there! There's light at the end of the tunnel, and it's not another oncoming train.

Hi Ed. Wow, what a large family group on your cruise! How fun for all of you. When we cruised with the Joanie & George's family a couple of years ago, there were 28 of us, including our family. It was like herding cats! So much fun!

We've had lovely, mild days here lately. In the mid 60's. Winter? Not here!

    Enjoy Saturday everyone!

    Karyn

    Hi Owls.

Ruth, tell Michael congratulations! I know you're enjoying helping him update his new house.

Karyn, I'm sure you're relieved that your mother's pain is now managed and that Dan and Payton are on the mend.

We are really having cold weather today. It's been so mild this winter that it feels doubly cold to me. We've had snow flurries all day (no accumulation), really strong winds and it's only gotten up to 27 degrees. If you factor in the the wind chill, it feels like 12 degrees. The forecasters say we'll have the coldest night of the season tonight. Brrr.

We had a lovely time at dinner last night and met a really nice couple who will be cruising with us in April.

    Good morning owls!

    Hi Ed

Karyn, glad to hear your Mom's pain is better, let's hope it continues in a good direction! Babies DO bounce back fast don't they? Glad to hear that issue is doing better as well.

We leave for Mexico on Friday the 24th!!! Can't get here soon enough.

    Hooray for Michael Ruth!

I hope everyone is having a good weekend, I actually woke up @ 1:30 yesterday morning, worked from home for 6.5 hours, went to the office for yet another hour, ran all of our errands together & then John took me for a nice lunch! High blood pressure AND bad attitude slowly went away thank goodness!!!

I left a note on my bosses computer that I want a meeting with him tomorrow and the you-know-what is going to hit the fan, this overload & pressure is going to stop or I walk NOW. I thought I was being nice and doing the right thing when I said I would stay until April instead of leaving December 31st!

OK, enough of me & my work!!!

We're supposed to get 3+ inches of snow & possible ice tomorrow, yuk! Not looking forward to that. It has been REALLY cold the past 3 days, first time this winter--really can't complain, it's mid February!!!

Garry--went to the Book/Video store where we used to rent audio books all the time & they no longer rent them. No market anymore the guy said. They had gently used ones on sale for $7 each so I bought 9 really good ones, a couple of your recommended authors. Thank you to you and Bob!!! I also bought 4 from Amazon that were gently used and very cheap. I will download them (when I have the time) and I guess we will have to go to plan B with audio books in the future.

The iPods are so small & work so well at the pools & beach since they clip to ball cap bills. Sure don't want to have to "hold" something then leave it on the chair when we want to walk or swim. What to do??????? I guess you can also listen from an iPad as well as read???? Ruth??????? But where would I put it in a swimsuit?? Gotta get some kind of carry thingie for it I guess.

I had better get to work if I want to get that blood pressure up again today!!! LOL JK

Hope everyone is well, enjoy your Sunday.

Hello Karyn. It should be "interesting". We will have ages from 1 1/2 to 81. Glad a few things are more tolerable now.

Rosie, check out audiobooks.com and audible.com. They're single purchase or subscription (which you can cancel at any time). So just sign up when you need them and cancel when you don't. You can buy books through itunes. I still have some on my ipod from back when that was the only game in town. With itunes, they'd be there for your ipod, iphone, and ipad (cloud storage).

    Good morning, everyone...
We had such a fun weekend with Hailey and Lucas... except for picture taking... Lucas was MOST uncooperative, so no new ones of him... but a couple of Hailey. She is talking more and more... loves yelling "Doggie!!" when she sees our dogs or wants to pet them. She also loves calling for her Poppa with kind of a French accent... and that includes, me too. I am happy to be called that for now!

Had a most miserable time commuting down to Schaumburg to pick up Hailey so that Lucas and his folks could go to the Monster Truck show... snow materialized mid afternoon and made traveling a truly royal pain. Took us an hour and a half to cover what would normally take about 20 minutes or so... saw three accidents which thankfully didn't look serious but tied up the roads unbelievably. Supposed to snow again today about the same time and I hope to stay home!

Garry, guess i had date night mixed up! For some reason, I thought you had said Thursday nights were better. Guess I dreamed that one. Glad you enjoyed meeting the other couple for your April cruise!

Karyn, the roller coaster of emotions is something, isn't it?! I am glad your mom is more comfortable now. I am also glad to hear that Payton and Dan are recovering.

Ruth, congratulations to Michael on his first house, and it's going to be lovely having him not too far away? How long of a drive is it from your home to his new one?

Rosie, hang in there. I am sorry it has been so miserable at work. Maybe knowing this is your last tax season makes it even worse. Glad you are working from home today.

Hi, Ed! That is definitely a large group... hope you all have a blast and enjoy your cruise a whole lot. Take some pictures so we can see your group, if you'd like to share.

Off to get going on the day... but first, here are a couple of pictures of Hailey from the weekend... Have a good Monday, everyone!

    Good morning Owls. Hi Ed.

Ed, you really have a large group. What fun you're going to have with 24 of your relatives cruising with you. I'm betting this won't be a relaxing cruise for you though. You're going to be busy, busy, busy!

Rosie, I'm glad you were able to get some of the audiobooks for your vacation. How did the meeting with your boss go this morning?

Susie, you're finally getting some winter weather. I'm sorry you had such a miserable drive but glad you're safe and sound. I can't believe how big Hailey is getting. She's just adorable. My granddaughter Isabel is going through the same thing as Lucas. She refuses to have her picture taken and throws a tantrum if you try. They're coming for a visit next month, so hopefully she had outgrown it!

I have been able to see the space shuttle pass overhead for the past 2 night. You can't miss it because it moves so fast. If the skies remain clear, I'll be able to see it through Friday. Here's a link to the site where you can see the schedule of when you might be able to see it: Human Space Flight (HSF) - Sightings

Rick and Anne are coming Friday for the weekend. They are on their way to Florida where they'll pick up Pat and Tom and head for the Connie for a cruise to the Caribbean. I sure wish we were going to be with them, but we have a great cruise coming up in April.

    Good morning owls.

    Hi Ed

Ruth, I have looked at those places and for new books, they are outrageous in price, some as much as $32. I bought some "gently used" in very good condition from Amazon for very reasonable prices--nothing more than $10 and a couple from iTunes for about the same. I delete books once we have both read them from our iTunes account. Since I now have all these "disc's" I will sell them back to Amazon and then just buy more. They make you a decent deal for doing that. I can't imagine having anything larger than my nano iPod to take to the pool/beach, not to mention the price of our other "toys" is a lot higher if someone decides to borrow them!!!! Holding something to read at the pool just doesn't work for me, I sure hope they continue with audio books somewhere!!!! LOL

Garry, my boss blew me off yesterday!!! Oh well.......I am just doing my thing and that is all there is to it at this point!

    Darling pix of Hailey Susie!

Better get to it--hope everyone has a great Tuesday.

    Good morning Owls. Hi Ed!

Bob and I went to the movie yesterday afternoon to see "The Descendants". I loved it, he was neutral. I thought George Clooney was great (and easy on the eye). I'd recommend it.

The weather forecasters blew it again. Last night they were predicting snow and sleet, icy roads, etc. This morning it's above freezing and we haven't had the first drop of any precipitation. Unfortunately they have revised the forecast and now rain is in the forecast for Saturday when Rick and Anne are here. Bummer.

Rosie, hang in there. Vacation is just around the corner!

Karyn, love and prayers are coming your way.
