    Merry Christmas

    Hi Everyone,

Ruth, I am know as the family plumber to quite a few of our friends!!! We had the same problem, DH was peeling mangos into the sink and sure enough he stopped up the sink. DH doesn't fit under the kitchen sink. (6'2" 270 lbs) So before my friends could even blink I was under th sink, taking the pipe apart and getting the peels out of the elbow. My Friend Larry teases me about that all the time. He's a smaller man than my DH and I guess he has always taken care of stuff like that in his household.

Donna....What else would my man be fixing but.... Rare Beef!!! Seriously, he is cooking prime rib on Christmas eve and a turkey on Christmas day. I think we'll be in fine form. He has a special recipe that he uses for his prime rib, and it works really well if you go to Mass or other Services on Christmas Eve, because you actually turn the oven off for a few hours.

Here's a link to his recipe

    Perfect Prime Rib

PS He's making chili now and going to make me a low carb blue berry cheese cake so I can indluge but not cheat on my diet...I've lost 7 lbs since Thanks Giving, when I weighed the most I've weighed in over 5 years!!!

    Good Morning Everyone~

Brrrr, a very chilly morning here. We have a cold snap throughout the Bay Area, and my tea is tasting prety good right now.

Ruth, we had exactly the same problem to Thanksgiving's ago. Potato peels....I read "afterward", the gluten gums up everything, and was a mess. Bill took the pipe apart, and we were good to go. I always like everything done and clean in advance...and my kitchen wasn't up to my standards, so I remember my nerves were a bit frayed. New Year's resolution: Don't sweat the small stuff! Sounds like a great title for a book....

Garry and Bob, travel safely, and have a wonderful holiday with your boys. Enjoy!

JoAn, your holidays with your large family should be just wonderful. Have a ball....

Donna & Joe, you also drive safely, and Susie & Larry, you also!

Suzanne, we're also having Prime Rib on Monday evening, at my Mom's. Yum!

Dinner this evening should be fun with Andrew & Ed. I always look forward to seeing them both.

Chuck, Happy Birthday!!!!!!!! Enjoy the Day....

    Have a Wonderful Saturday All!

There are 3 kinds of people in this world...those who want things to happen...those that make things happen...and those who just wonder what the hell happened!

Three men died on Christmas Eve and were met by Saint
    Peter at the pearly gates.

"In honor of this holy season" Saint Peter said,"You must each
possess something that symbolizes Christmas to get into heaven."

The first man fumbled through his pockets and pulled out a lighter.
He flicked it on. "It represents a candle", he said.

"You may pass through the pearly gates" Saint Peter said.

The second man reached into his pocket and pulled out a set of
keys. He shook them and said, "They're bells."

Saint Peter said "You may pass through the pearly gates".

The third man started searching desperately through his pockets
and finally pulled out a pair of women's panties.

St. Peter looked at the man with a raised eyebrow and asked,
"And just what do those symbolize?"

The man replied, "These are Carols."

And So The Christmas Season Begins......

An early Merry Christmas to all the Owls! Hope you're doing well and the shopping, wrapping, baking, etc. is done.

My son, DIL, and GS arrived Thursday night, so I'm a happy mom! The baby is Mr. adorable! We'll be having our celebration tonight as they'll leave tomorrow to visit her family in Ohio. They'll be back for a few days before they leave on the 31st. My daughter won't be here...too busy working in CO. First time ever I've not spent Christmas with her...boohoo.

Happy birthday Chuck!! Enjoy your day!

Off to start some cooking for our feast tonight. Champagne is chilling and Santa's on his way.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone and safe travels to all the flying/driving Owls.

Enjoy, Elizabeth! Have some champagne for me!

    Happy Birthday Chuck!

JoAn, sitting at home waiting to hear from UPS whether my packages will be delivered by Monday or not...GRRRRR. So I sympathize with your ordering problems...

    Bill, too funny....

    Garry, put your boot on!

Ruth, we've had the potato peel disaster even with a turbo charged disposal...our plumber (I'm not as handy as you are, Suzanne....) said basically NEVER to put potato peels in the disposal...

Susan, hope the cold is better, and that you and Ed had real maple syrup on those waffles! My Ed likes Log Cabin....and I hate the stuff!

    Karyn, see you soon!

Terry, congrats on the baking! I haven't even shopped for the Christmas dinner yet...can I serve waffles?

Donna, pizza wins out over a long drive almost always!!!!

John, as others have said, easy to get the car and return to the airport, but it depends on what you're doing while here. Trips to the city would be better on the BART train. Trips to Marin, Sonoma, Carmel, etc, would be better to have a car. Let us know here, or e-mail me, and I'll be happy to recommend the best logistical solution given your needs...

I think it was pretty smart of me to have a cold the week before Christmas and get it out of the way. Besides, now I get to put the daughters to work when they get here doing the rest of the cookie baking and wrapping presents. They will probably be glad to have something to do (I hope).

According to Amazon I still have two packages that are supposed to arrive on Xmas Eve - that's the problem with Christmas on a Tuesday. On the other hand, having Prime shipping with Amazon means I can order almost anything and get two-day air delivery service (as long as Amazon is the retailer). So far they have done a great job for me this year.

Donna, have a good time at the Soaring Eagle and with the family. Garry, I hope you and Bob have a safe trip to Colorado. And Andrew & Ed and Karyn & Bill, have fun at dinner tonight. (BTW, I use real maple syrup, Ed prefers this strawberry stuff.)

    Happy Birthday, Chuck!

Chuck, Happy Birthday!!! You are a capricorn like Jean is. Her`s is the 29th.

Biggest thing going on right now is checking the weather crawls. 10.30am there was bare ground. Now there is 6" of snow on the ground. With some blowing. So far our show is a go for tonight.

Haven`t any concrete ideas of alot of things to do. Of course there is fisherman`s wharf. I think that is close to our hotel the day before the cruise. And yes the trolley. As far as after that is just starting to come into my mind. Would like to get out away from the city also. Since the visit wouldn`t be complete with road trips. Carmel would be cool. Don`t know how far it is to wine country. That was why I was thinking of a rental car.Got to do some googling to see what we might want besides these things.

Guess it is time for me to get off here and see what the weather has in store. Thanks for the start on some ideas.

I`m not evil. Just a little bent and twisted.

When we visited San Francisco, we really enjoyed Muir Woods and Sausalito (we took a ferry over there). I didn't get to do it, but I would have liked to tour Alcatraz.
