    Goodbye Gardeners

    So you all in March.

We have all kinds of critters -- squirrels, chipmunks, deer, wild turkey, ground hogs, raccoons, opossums, snakes and tons of different birds.

With all the warm weather we have had the month of January and this first day of February -- many of my day lillies have sprouted -- one cold snap and we will lose the entire plants.

    Bon Voyage Yonnie!

You and Joe have a safe trip to Florida and a wonderful time on your long cruise! We'll be looking forward to hearing "how your garden grows" when you return next month and will miss you while you're away!

    Hello Gardners!

I thought I had posted here a few days ago...but I dunno 'cause its not here...

I was out in the yard yesterday!!! Cleaned up sticks and did a god bit of pruning of the shrubs and pruned the grapes.

There is so much here starting to bud. We have a weeping pussy willow that has some fuzzy buds showing, the daffodils are coming up, and the forysthia are in deep bud. So all the early shows are going to start here...early.

We have a variance apllication in for a new paver sidewalk and a new paver patio. We love on a corner so our property is considered two front years. The hearing is on the 1st and I am anxious to get this project hopefully approved and installed quickly so that the back yard does not look trampled by the work when its full spring. Fingers crossed that we can get it going and done before we cruise in April.

If so, the outside is done but for getting the herbs and flowers planted after we return. Can't wait!!!

Hi Cheryl! The first signs of Spring also always make me want to get started in the yard.

You certainly have some big projects planned. Hope the plans are approved so it can be completed early. Do you think there will any sort of problem getting them approved?

Lulu - We have overcome most of the hurdles as we had to get a new survey done as part of the application requirements with the intended pavers plotted and then the site coverage calculated. We have multiple variances as part of this application including site coverage, multiple sidewalks, and of course the sideyard because its considered a front yard. I really don't think they will turn the project down, at least we have had no indication that this won't be approved, but you never know...

Cheryl, once it's approved, approximately how long will it take for it to be completed?

Cheryl, I hope you'll take some before and after pictures.

When in April are you cruising, where and on what ship? Bob and I will be leaving on April 20th for Miami where we'll board the Eclipse for a transatlantic cruise to Southampton. We're doing a B2B with a Norwegian Fjord cruise.

Lulu - It will only take a week. Its a very small project as we have a small yard, but the expanse of all this variance stuff at this point and those costs between the application fees ($925.00 to give you an idea) and the new survey....and we had to mail out about 50 certfied letters to all those within 200 feet of our propertly line....I think they were nutty with all those names....no way they are 200 feet away. 2,000 feet maybe, but we did it and did so just to be over with it.

Just wait until I start the permit process for the new kitchen!

Garry - We will be on Silhouette out of Bayonne to Eastern Caribbean on April 10th, we booked it when it was first available so we have had the booking for a while. Its going to be nice not to fly just for a little change.

Its soooo nice that you are combining your cruises, and back to the Fjords which I know you really enjoyed before, so good for you!

Ed's Dad recently passed and that has held us back from cruises that would make immediate travel back home difficult. We have nothing planned after this cruise, but we sure are looking!!!

Eclipse, so far, is the only ship of the S Class that we still have not been on....

Cheryl, I'm so sorry to hear about Ed's Dad. Please tell him we're thinking about him.

We're going to do a repositioning cruise on the Solstice next April 8. Come and join us. We leave from Sydney, Australia to Hawaii (18 days) and then from Hawaii to Ensenada, Mexico. We are really excited about this cruise. It'll probably be out last long airline voyage.
