any one use foursquare to see whats around ports or other destinations? ive found a few good restuarant when i was just in balitmore over the weekend and some of the tips on it were great. Also i've used in vegas to get 2for1 drinks in planet hollywood

While I'm still trying to figure out how best to use Foursquare to help CruiseLineFans.com - we do have an account there.

Please do make sure and connect up with us. I'm thinking of actually giving the log on information to all of our Officers so they can "check in" at various ships, ports, restaurants and activities. (This will be the first they're hearing of it. )

Personally, I've found some good restaurants in the over saturated Portland, ME dining circuit via 4square, but can't say I honestly use it very much...YET.

Be on the lookout for more activity on 4square at the CruiseLineFans feed. Be sure to connect up when you have the chance.

i use it everyday and have gotten alot of use of it its a great concept

it would b great if cruiselinefans was active 4sq!!

I think it's a wonderful concept. Total sidebar - I was at a conference in NYC last week and met one of the founders. Super nice, down to earth and very smart.

I will try and do my best to come up with some more ways CruiseLineFans can use 4square a little more.

no not like either. its a site/app that u check in to places that u are and lets your friends kno where u are. Company's have hooked up with 4sq and offer out specials/deals for when u check in. After so many check ins u become the mayor if u have the most check ins u also get badges for different things and points for every check in, creating new venue and all that

Ken,

In the sense that its a social network - yes.

Beyond that, conceptually, -they're trying to do very different things. Foursquare is really dedicated to people's geo-locations and thusly, the stores, restaurants, museums, and all other location they interact with on a daily or not-so-regular basis.

One can add tips for each location, become the Mayor if you check in the most, and earn badges displaying your 4square prowess.

If you're in the travel business, it's worth securing an account and starting to observe the community and how it works.
