Galax6 September in the Eastern Med

    anyone going on this cruise?

Over on the DS, only a few people seem interested.

It takes something out of the planning if you think no one is enthusiastic about a crurise except you and your travel mate.

I should add, I have sailed this itinerary once before, years ago, on a Greek ship full of French, British and Germans, a group from Brown University and me. It was really delightful.

    anybody???

Joan, just thought I'd pop in and say hi. i'm not taking your cruise, but I am taking a Med cruise this summer, July to be exact. I can't wait.

you're lucky to be doing it for the second time.

what are your port stops? what excursions, if any, are you planning?

    Port Stops --
The usual. Sailing out of Rome. Stops in Mykonos and Athens, Greece; Rhodes, Santorini; Istanbul (overnight) and Ephesus, Turkey.
Had to cancel similar cruise for May which also would have\d stopped in Dubrovnik, where I have never been. The others are all repeats for me.

I have not yet looked at shore trips. I will be doing Ephesus for sure.--it's a longish drive from Kusadasi, where the ship docks. Ephesus is a wonderful place, reeking in history. You walk down the ruins of a marble=paved street and you feel like Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton for sure!!!

Mykonos and Santorini both are just strolling around places. Good shopping in both. :headbang2

I am sure I will take on tour in 'Istanbul, but not sure what yet. As for Athens, a few hours is not much time. I spent two weeks there years ago and covered the whole city on foot -- something outstanding on every corner, and the Acropolis towering over it all. Fantastic.

    What are your plans??

My cruise starts and ends in Barcelona.

    We have stops at:
    Santorini
    Mykonos
    Athens
    Villefrance
    Corsica
    Florence/Pisa
    Rome
    Naples

I am taking private tours in Florence/Pisa, Rome and Athens. I am taking a ship excursion in Naples to Pompeii and the Amalfi Drive, a city tour of Ajaccio, Corsica, a tour of Ephesus and a trip out to Delos from Mykonos.

I plan on doing Santorini and Villefranche on my own.

I'm so excited. Booked this cruise 14 months out. Now we're down to a little over 3 months!

12 day Brilliance of the Seas.... 9 port stops 2 sea days I think its great. The port stops to me are the most important part of the cruise. When I booked the cruise, it was 8 port stops and 3 sea days. Then they got rid of a sea day and added Corsica. It was a bonus for me!
