Anyone else cruising over Christmas??
My husband (Mike) and myself (Laurie) are SOOOOO excited to be going to South America to visit the penguins over Christmas!
Any fellow cruisers out there?
I will be doing almost the same Itinerary, but 4 weeks later. My husband won't cruise when there are BOWL games!
Be sure to go to the Trip Reports section of the board http://www.cruiselineforums.com/foru...splay.php?f=26 , and check out joramrose's review of her trip around South America. She went on HAL, and they stopped at a few different places, but it is a great report to read nonetheless. It is in 6 parts, and I had to read the whole thing all at once - her writing is THAT good!
Are you planning any precruise or post-cruise stays? I want to do both, but I don't know how to swing that much time off from work.
I see that you already found the Celebrity board here - we have some very knowledgeable and informative members there. But be sure to go to the Introduce Yourself part of the board, and do just that. This is how we get to know new members, and how we get a chance to welcome them.
I'm trying to plan some private tours, but I'm running into a tad bit of difficulty because with hit Punta Arenas on Christmas day and Ushuaia on Christmas Eve. I might be SOL on those 2 days. I know the penguins don't care what day it is, so why should we ????
Just got an e-mail from a TA offering free airfare for this cruise.

I am using this tour operator in Punta Arenas. Since their website is in Spanish, I thought I would include some of my correspondence with them. They have answered all my request very promptly. Their website is http://www.vientosur.com/index.php and the e-mail address is From: Francesca - Turismo Viento Sur [mailto:agencia@vientosur.com]
For Puerto montt and the other Chile ports we used www.enaturchile.com Victor Aballai, always answers his emails promptly.
Muchas gracias, Chistina!
I will be on a the same ship the following month with a very similar itinerary, so I really appreciate your info.
How long ago were you in South America? I would love to hear more about your travels.
And before I forget Welcome to CLF!

My husband and I travelled in March of this year, on board of Crown. We arrived two days before our cruise to Santiago of Chile. We remained in the Marriott Hotel, is really pleasant, its location is excellent
Santiago is a clean, modern and safe city, we fixed with enaturchile, a trip by the city and visited the vineyard Concha y Toro, We had a great service
In our transference to Valparaiso we visited a vineyard. We enjoyed a small trip by Vina del Mar and Valparaiso.
Vina del Mar is a beautiful city with many flowers, modern and totally tourist.
Valparaiso is very different something old and poor, but, very interesting we travelled in an elevator and we had a great Vista of the city
Other ports that we visited are:
Puerto Montt , Chacabuco ,Fjordos Chilenos , Punta Arena, Ushuaia Port Stanley , Puerto Madryn , Montevideo and Buenos Aires
I just checked the Celebrity website, and the price went down for $200/pp on this cruise.....if you have already booked, you may want to see if you get a price reduction too
