Celebrity Summit Hawaiian Cruise 12/21/07 - 1/5/08 Review

Here it is folks, I will be breaking down my entire trip to Hawaii. From the start to the finish and everything in between. I planned to do a day by day report but that didn't work out so I will be breaking down things as I feel like. Here are some things I will cover but much more.

    The Summit Ship
All Ports and activities we did like luau's, whale watching, swimming with dolphins, and renting bigger vans.
Getting on and off the ship

This will take some time and I don't know if I feel like starting tonight. I think I will just make my first post (next) the background info you need to know to understand my family.

Hi Ben, I am so glad you made it home OK!!! You are a very lucky young man having so many cruises already!!
Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

    Food

Well lets kick off this review with a post about all the great food aboard the ship.

Breakfast- Breakfast was just your typical breakfast food on the pool deck. It is called the waterfall cafe and was just two buffet lines. Their is early breakfast from 6:30-7:00 AM then regular breakfast from 7:00-10:00 AM and finally late breakfast from 10:00 to 11:30. They also had waffles from 7:00-10:00 AM in the back of the boat. They were very good with syrup and strawberries.

They also had sit-down breakfast at the Cosmopolitan Restaurant from 7:30-9:30 AM. I cannot comment on this because I never went here for breakfast.

Lunch- I only ate lunch on board during the sea days. I personally thought the lunches in the cafe were better on my last ship (Galaxy). It was all good and fine just nothing great. They had two buffet lines, same as breakfast. Also had 2 pasta making stations which was good and in the back of the boat they would make custom deli sandwiches which was my favorite lunch food. Not to mention a pizza bar with create your own pizza. The create your own pizza was great with over 20 toppings choices and it only takes about 10 minutes to cook.

They also had lunch in the Cosmopolitan which I also never attended but I did see the menus. If you are trying to watch your eating on a cruise go to the restaurant for breakfast/lunch. I think they do a good job of offering healthy choices and less food then the buffets.

    Next: Sushi, Ice Cream, DINNER

    Later,

Waffles and make-your-own-pizza sounds awesome. I hope we go back on Celebrity in the future. I'd love to try those out! I can't wait to hear about dinner.

You got your priorities straight, Ben! Homework first. Can you incorporate your cruise report into your English creative writing class?

    Food...More!

I have written about my cruises before, oh how I miss the Summit .

Ice Cream- In the Waterfall Cafe they have two ice cream places, each has about 7 different flavors (same at both places) and a soft serve/frozen yogurt machine. I am not a big ice cream eater and only had it maybe 3 times over the 15 day cruise. My favorite was the after 8 ice cream which is similar to mint chocolate chip. Also the banana was good.

Another note related to ice cream, a couple of the sea days they had sorbet parades. This is when the waiters bring around sorbet on the pool deck, I think this is a nice touch and the sorbet is usually refreshing.

SUSHI- Sushi is such a treat on cruises, all the sushi you can eat for free. I hate when people pig out with more than 20 of so pieces in one day, its rude. I bet I had sushi 10 out of 15 days usually about 7 or 8 pieces. Every day they had a little bit different selection. Usually only about 6 different choices. My favorites are the shrimp nigiri (sp) and the California rolls. The sushi guys also did a demonstration on how to make sushi which was neat.

    Dinner is next!
