Not much to tell. The last I knew, Mercury did not have a specialty restaurant.

That is correct. Of that 3 ships Celebrity had of that class (Galaxy is history), only Century has ever had a specialty restaurant, and that is only due to the rather substantial refit/modifications made to that ship a couple of years ago.

The one on Century is outstanding - my favorite of any of them so far, but I've not yet had a chance to try the ones on Solstice or Equinox.

Mercury does have an alternative venue for dinner and I understand it has become increasingly popular as an alternative to the MDR. I requires reservations and there is a nominal charge of several dollars for gratuities. It is located port side in the rear of the buffet area. There are tablecloths, flowers and wait staff service in this venue. The meals are prepared in the aft section of the Palm Springs Grill where the sandwich station is located during the lunch meal period.

Reggie - this "alternative" venue for dinner exists on all Celebrity ships (except for their Galapagos runs!) It's great for nights where you are going to have a problem making your regularly scheduled dinner hour or if you're not in a situation to dress to the 9's on a formal night or similar. The menus don't precisely match those of the main dining room, although several of the entrees usually match. Those serving are, I think, trainees for the main dining room. As you say, they provide proper table service and linens.

    Reservations are strongly recommended.

The key word here in LuLu's question was "Specialty" restaurant. They enjoy the service and menus that are above and beyond the main dining room fare.

The "fee" for the casual alternative dining is $2.00 per person.

Yes LuLu, that is why I mentioned it. Many would like an alternative to MDR on port days so that they wouldn't have to rush to dinner and could enjoy an alternative, whatever that might be. I totally understood your question and just wanted to give a little more information that might possibly be of use to you or someone else. From what I saw on my last 2 Mercury cruises(14 and 11 nights), the alternative venue was quite often uncrowded, the service excellent and food prepared individually as you ordered. Had I not been traveling with a group on both of those cruises, I would have taken advantage of the alternative several times.
