I have never been able to get into a book while on the cruise. I am afraid I might miss something. Wanda usually brings one then hits the library.
I have only seen the Harry Potter series mentioned a couple of times on the boards. I am currently rereading the six that are out. I think adults would be pleasantly surprised with the series.

It's expensive to read this thread. I've been looking for what to stock up on for an upcoming cruise. Now I've got to go checkout my Amazon purchases![]()
Thanks for the good suggestions.
That's it.Originally Posted by Catman
You have finally done it Chuck!I will now go to Amazon and start buying the Harry Potter series. I have to admit I enjoyed the Lord of the Rings and other juvenile series so I may as well try this one.

I'm not a great reader of books. Never have been although do like the reference books. I take my Berlitz Cruising and Cruise Ships guide, just so that I can read about the other ships that I see. I'm a ship spotter!

I always bring the newest James Patterson...
Trouble is I start it on the plane ride to the ship,,,
then
I continue it on the plane ride home.
I am too EXCITED to read it onboard.
I love to people watch...

You have my condolences on the going back to work!!!
I read about 4 books a week on a cruise. To me there is nothing better than sitting out on a deck where you can smell the sea and look up whenever you want to that great expanse of ocean. I LOVE IT!![]()
I love to read. On my upcoming freighter trip, I will have at least 27 sea days, so I will be doing some heavy duty reading. So far I have put aside.

James Michener . . . The Source

I am looking for a paperback version of Tom Clancy's . . . The Teeth of the Tiger. Not sure if it is even out in paperback yet, but he has a new release scheduled for May of 2006, so maybe.
On a regular cruise, I will read much lighter stuff, but I need to fill in a lot of time on this trip.

A veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in his or her life, wrote a blank check made payable to "My Country", for an amount of "up to, and including my life." That is honor and courage.
Susan, good for you and you'll have to keep me posted. I read The first Narnia(Lion, Witch, and Wardrobe) when I was a kid. A few years ago I tried to read it again and just couldn't get interested. I understand the movie is pretty good but have yet to see it.Originally Posted by nu2sea
Oh yes, if anyone thinks they would enjoy a main character who is a retired cop, working PI but not licensed, recovering alcoholic, and all around good guy. Check out the author Lawrence Block.

Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.
