On my first cruise on the NCL GEM I emptied my fridge to the side and put my own sodas in. I put them backthe last day. I knew I wouldn't be charged then. What was nice that when we went to the MDR with our cans, they immediatlely brought out glasses with ice for us. We had an inside room and didn't know we had a fridge, but bought the sodas at our first stop at Port Canaveral. Our next cruises we ended up buying the soda card, less hassle and the way I drink soda cheaper.

Have you been successful have the fridge emptied ?
Below you indicated the steward wouldn't empty it.
Is it hit or miss depending on the steward ?
Tony, we just made room for our items without asking for the whole thing to be emptied.
Sometimes it was just a matter of reorganizing how things were placed and other times we took various items out and put on the shelf. No problem moving it ourselves.

I just remembered that after I took out enough stuff to make room for ours, the Steward rearranged the removed articles nicely(neater then I did) next to the refrigerator.
