Jeans are too heavy to pack, so for me, not an issue.

This, on the other hand is truly frightening:

    GROOVY????

Does that mean we have to get stoned again?

Jeans are not too heavy to pack for people who really like to wear them. They are the perfect garment when you are traveling from a cold climate to a warmer one. I tend to wear them on the plane when I fly south in the winter because they are always seasonal.

Honestly, I think Celebrity is trying to be inclusive and sensitive to the needs of younger travelers. Having grown up in New York City, I can personally attest to the fact that the has the world become a more casual place. Young people can be seen looking very stylish in jeans at private parties, the opera and at upscale restaurants.

Celebrity was clear that while men are not allowed in the diningroom in sleevless tops, while no such rule applies to women. I suspect that the enforcement of the jeans policy may be somewhat sexist. OK for women, not OK for men. I'm actually thinking that I may be good to go in jeans and the strappy silk tops that have been so hot this summer.

I know you guys don't want to hear this, but it's possible that Celebrity's marketing people might have this one right. It just might be that they are trying to appeal to a younger demographic. While I would never wear shorts in the diningroom (or ever... they make me look fat ), I'm delighted that "formal" is going to be less so... and and that my ridiculously overpriced jeans will, in all liklihood, make the cut. Look, I am completely good with others going around in gowns and tuxedo's, but I have no interest in doing so myself.

    Sorry.

To quote that famous president again

To quote that famous US president again. "It depends on your definition of the word 'is'!"

    Before Six
Dining options abound aboard Celebrity. For breakfast and lunch, jeans, shorts and casual daywear are allowed in all dining venues before 6:00pm. After 6:00pm, this attire is allowed only in casual restaurants and cafés.

This is from the Celebrity web site under "Proper Dining Attire" I'll bet the dailies will have this language too. The only time I have ever worn jeans on a Celebrity cruise was during the day in Alaska. I just like to be more dressed up in the really nice ship-board atmosphere.
