As a result of ongoing record high fuel prices, bookings made on or after June 30, 2008, will be subject to a revised fuel supplement. The revised fuel supplement will apply to bookings made throughout the world on Celebrity Cruises.
For bookings made in United States and Canada: For first and second guests in a stateroom, the fuel supplement will be $10 (U.S.D./CAN.) per-person, per-day, and no more than $140 (U.S.D./CAN.) per-person, per-cruise. Additional guests in a stateroom will be charged $5 (U.S.D./CAN.) per-person, per day, and no more than $70 (U.S.D./CAN.) per-person, per-cruise.
For changes in the fuel supplement in other currencies, refer to the article on the Celebrity website:
This is not the news the industry needs to hear.. I believe from a marketing stand point I would have adjusted the cruise price... rather than advertising fuel cost increases...

We all knew this was coming. I think every industy is suffering from the higher gas prices. We might as well get used to it. I bet in the future, we'll also see a jump in the cost of booking a cruise too.
Overall, I think we all have a point at which we will not pay any more for our cruise vacation. I would think that the cruise lines will adjust the base cruise fare to what the market will bear. When and if the fuel prices drop to more reasonable levels the cruise lines will be forced to remove or adjust the fuel supplement. This may, and I stress may, allow for a lower overall cruise fare.
