any one back from Alaska?

Hi ALL,
I'm hoping for some information on formal nights on the Infinity. Maybe a menu if available. My father in law is coming and is very limited on what he an eat because of health issues.
Also if the ship is able to get very close to Hubbard Glaciers.

I just checked the roll calls and don't see anyone cruising Alaska before your cruise the end of June. Bummer! Perhaps someone new will register who is going sooner and will be able to tell you what you want to know.

My hubby has to have a low sodium diet and they bring him the next nights menu for him to choose what he wants. The chef will prepare his choices with no added salt. I don't know your father in law's restrictions, but they are very accommodating.

I'll be on Infinity on 6th June and will be back home on the 18th. I'll try to remember to post when I get back as to how close we got to the glacier. This year doesn't seem such a good year with the ice, but I am forever hopeful we can get close!

As far as your FIL's dietary requirements go, I'd have a word with your Assistant Maitre d' on the first night and ask him about the menus and what can be arranged. I have been on a couple of cruises where someone at the table had to be careful what they ate and the restaurant was very accommodating.

You don't mention exactly what is the dietary restriction, but in most cases, you need to notify the cruise line in advance of any special dietary requirments. CALL your travel agent and have them notify the cruise line in advance. If you did not use an agent, call them yourself.

We were in Hubbard Glacier last week on the Serenade OTS.
Were were able to within one mile of the face.
That is considered to be very good.
It can change day to day so that is no indication of what will happen on your cruise.

Thanks for the feedback.
My FIL has esophagus cancer, he doing good but has to be very careful of what he eats. We have filled out a form for the cruise on his health concerns. I did find a old menu so he was happy about what soups and soft foods that were offered.

Not sure if I am too late with the report on Infinity in the Hubbard Glacier and you have already left. We didn't get that close to it. The Captain got us pretty close to the Turner Glacier and we did see some calving, but the ice was too thick to get us to the "true blue" of Hubbard.

We had a great trip and I enjoyed very much seeing Alaska for the first time. We had some great whale and Orca encounters, both on a tour with Captain Larry in Juneau and from the ship (a huge pod of maybe 100 humpback whales - awesome!). Enjoy your cruise.
