    celebration

I'm booked on the"Celebration" leaving out of Jacksonville, Fl on Sept 28,2006 to the Bahamas. I know this is an older ship, has anyone been on this one and how was the Jacksonville port?

I have sailed on the Celebration. It was a while back... about 1995 as I recall.
I can not remember too much about the ship but I don't believe there was anything negetive about the facilities.

I have never sailed out of Jacksonville.

No I've never sailed out of Jax, But I am from there. Infact I never sailed at all this is a first and I decided on this ship just to save the long ride down south to another port.

We've sailed just once out of Jax - last April on the Zenith.
The port was an easy in-easy out one. Both embarkation and disembarkation went smoothly.

If you like the Celebration, you'll be home port spoiled. We are. Going out of Port Canaveral is just TOO easy for us. We'll hop on the Sovereign (an older, smaller ship) in a heartbeat, but we have to really want to sail a particular ship or itinerary to drive to one of the other Florida ports.

IT was like pulling teeth to get my DH to agree to FLY to San Juan for our Southern Caribbean cruise last year.

We were on the Celebration back in June 05 and loved it.
Clean and friendly nothing fancy just a relaxing ship for us. .
The Jax terminal is easy to access no problems.
We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express about 1/2 mile from the port on Berlin Road.
Nice clean comfy hotel with complinmentary breakfast.
We had a wonderful vacation on board this ship.
    YAHOO!!!!!!
    Have Fun!!!

    Sure...

I have sailed the Celebration twice. We sailed over New Years and then again on March 20, 2006 (both were 5-days to Key West and Nassau.)

You will find Jacksonville is a dream of a port. If it takes you more than 30 minutes from your car to the ship, then it is a slow day. Embarkation is soo very simple. Be sure your paperwork is filled out, especially your Bahamas paperwork and you will walk right through and wonder where the lines are.

Debarkation is just as simple. They will have unassisted and then open up the lines. YOu do not have to wait on your color. The ship docked at 7:00 and we were in the car by 9:30 each trip.

Celebration is older...but...you will find the friendliest crew afloat. They are very attentive to details and much more personal then on a big ship. Just think small town where you walk into the drug store and he knows you by name, and what you need before you ask!!

Sorry..no rock climbimg or ice skating...but a pool to lay by, lots of sun, great entertainment, good food....all the things I am looking for.

If you go looking for a great time on your cruise, I suspect you will find it.

After watching the show airplane on A&E, I've decided to play it safe and not fly Southwest EVER. The employees treat the customers fairly in my opinion, but that overbooking thing and not expecting 10% of the BOOKED customers to show up is a little crazy.

i was on the ill fated trip which was delayed because of the "bomb" scare August 25-30. Heres my advice:
do not take the express shuttle to the ship if you plan on boarding early. get to the port about 10 and you may be able to start your enjoyment ASAP.

ask to get into the vista dining room, you will be glad you did.

half the staff have great attitude and a brain in their head- be prepared for the half that dont.

have fun- i will never go on Celebration again because of the few weak links
