Cool Calico Jack's on Seven Mile Beach ... a brief report

Once again this year (Jan 2012), we totally enjoyed spending time at the beach area at Seven Mile Beach around Calico Jack's. Beautiful beach with no need for water shoes.

Because we like to go to the beach later in the morning and the last tender to our ship was at
3:30 PM, we took the ship's tour there. Worked out quite well for us. They picked us up from the ship at 11:00 AM and we met to return at 3:00 PM. Lots of traffic so it took us about 20 minutes to get back to the tender dock. No problem, it was a ship's tour so they would have waited.

This excursion provided beach chairs & umbrellas. There was also a card to get either a glass of rum or fruit punch which we did not use. We bought beer from the bar instead. They had buckets of beer. Their fish sandwiches were very good.

    It was a FUN day!

    Sounds wonderful LuLu!!

HAL never offers any beach excursions for any port any more.

Yonnie ... It's a shame when cruise lines don't offer simple beach excursions! Lot's of folks just want from time to time to be at a beautiful beach doing as much or as little as they please.

We especially like the ones where, in addition to the beach chairs & umbrellas, there's a covered bar area with regular tables and chairs. After having our fun in the water and on the beach we totally enjoy sitting in "deep shade" in normal chairs and relaxing while chatting with others.

Calico Jack's works out well for us.

You mean seven mile beach at Grand Caymen, right? We drove by it twice when we were on the island. Beautiful beach, very clean, and very well maintained.

Yep, Neal, that where it is -- Grand Cayman.

You're right! The beach area along Seven Mile Beach is lovely. We especially enjoy being section at Seven Mile where Calico Jack's is located.

Calico Jack's is our favorite place to go! We just go to the public transportation area (next to the library about 2 blocks from the pier) and pay our $2.50 per person - there's a stop right at Calico Jack's. Then we do our own thing and take the public transportation back to town.

The beach there is awesome for beach-goers, that's for sure! But not great for snorkelers. If you want to snorkel, as you get off the tender pier, turn left and go to the scuba place (can't remember the name - have to look it up). But you can snorkel for free off their pier and it's very good snorkeling. Plus, there's a restaurant right next door with good food and cold beer.

Pete .... The place you're talking about for snorkeling I feel sure is Eden Rock and the resturant is Paradise. We've been to those several times over the years and always a Plan B for us.

The "world's worst fish sandwich" at Paradise Restaurant is probably the best we're ever had!

I know where you're talking about, but that's to the right as you're coming off the tender pier - over by all the shopping and by the Harley Davidson shop.

This place is to the left as you're coming off the tender pier. No shopping around it, so it's less crowded and more enjoyable. Snorkeling here is by the sunken ferry.
