When on a port stop in Grand Cayman, is there anything you haven't already done that you would like to do?

Yes, we would like to see more of the island. We have done the stingray swim a couple of times and by the time we get back, we just wander around the shopping area and don't get to the outlying areas. But I just can't resist those rays![]()

I've done stingray city by boat and I have scuba dived in Grand Cayman. I haven't tried waverunners and since the North Sound is always so calm, that looks like something fun to try. Great pics and a fun looking tour at Stingray City Sandbar Wave Runner Adventure Grand Cayman Islands
Two things on my list: Deep Sea Fishing and Rum Point. Will be there again in March....still deciding what we will want to do.
Done everything (probably two or three times), but the one thing I'd love to do is to take a water ferry over to Cayman Brac and do some serious scuba diving over there.

Dock!! We had to miss Grand Cayman when it was recovering from Hurricane Ivan, and I know several people who missed it because the waters were too choppy for tendering.
One day I will get there....

On hiatus from cruising, but still very interested!!!
That's the one thing about Grand Cayman - having to tender. But there are huge problems with building a cruise ship pier and that's because of the coral reef being so near the city pier. In fact, when they built the city pier, there were huge protests.
On one side you have the politicians, cruise companies, businesses, and passengers who want to be able to dock the ships. As we all know, often the weather will not allow tenders to operate and thus the island looses alot of money.
On the other side, you have the environmentalists that do not want to see them destroy the fragile coral reef. Reefs are being destroyed all over the world and these reefs will not grow back. Those that do, do so at a very very slow rate - they are extremely fragile and are already in decline - being affected by global warming, pesticides in the water, and careless people dropping anchors, as well as other careless activities. Reefs are extremely important to the ecological make-up of the area providing food and shelter to fish and other creatures. And while I understand the economical factors, as an avid scuba diver I also support preserving our underwater ecosystem.
Needless to say, it's an ongoing battle between the two factions - both being very adamant about their stance on the matter.
Whether a dock will eventually be built or is something that will definitely have a major impact one way or the other.

We've only been able to tender in about 60% of our times there due to choppy waters, etc.
And, these have always been between New Year's and Early March -- not hurricane season!
