    Trip to hell

My GF and I are going to the Grand Caymans for the first time. We would like to go to hell, the turtle farm and stingray city. We will be on the Celebrity Century, who has the best tour to these places. It could be the ships tour or private.

First, don't waste your time going to hell - so to speak. It's just a hole-in-the-wall place to buy souveniers and is really not worth the trip. Snorkeling in Sting Ray City is great, but I recommend doing it through an independent and not through the cruise line - you'll pay about the same, but will have a whole lot less people. The Turtle Farm is very interesting, but you don't need a tour to go there - just take public transportation ($2.50 per person each way) as it's cheaper than any tour or taxi.

You can actually get off the ship and book a tour with a local company to do all that and fit in snorkelling at the Cemetary on the way back. It's true that Hell is not that impressive, but it is "fun" to send the postcards with that postmark. Stingray City is also "fun", but stingrays are all you will see! That's why you will want to stop at the Cemetary and do some additional snorkelling prior to arriving back at the ship. You must bring your own gear to the Cemetary. Just time it right to either have the tour include the Cemetary or end at the Cemetary and then, catch the bus back to town.

I know by reading that hell is not all that it is cracked up to be, but we still have to go there. I have been putting my friends addresses on my IPhone so I can sent them a post card from hell.
Thanks for all of the advice. My GF does not like to snorkel and I am waiting for a knee replacement so I can't do the leg kicking, I tried it our last cruise. I also try to buy a carved wooden turtle on every vacation that we go on, so the turtle farm is right up my alley. Only 3 weeks left to get out of this cold.

You're right on HELL! The only thing it's good for is mailing post cards ... and, maybe, buying something that says, "I've been to Hell!"

Celebrity use to offer an excursion that did all three -- Hell, Turtle Farm, and Stingray City. I imagine they still do.

Have a wonderful time in Grand Cayman!

I booked a tour through Cayman in a nutshell. Should I take a snorkel and mask when we go to Stingray City? My bad knee will keep me from snorkeling but do I need the mask to look under the water at the rays?
