    Grand Cayman & tour guides

Less than 3 months away, we will be going to Grand Caymon.

I know there is the 7 - mile beach (I found that 18 years ago), which was a good one, but is there any others to visit, or is it the best? Also, I seen where it is better to take public transportation. Do you mean BUS? If so, will the bus be going other places, other than the beach? I just don't want to get on the "wrong" bus, and not find our way back to the ship, in "plenty" of time.

Are there any good tour guides that you would recommend? We don't want to snorkle, but would like to "siight see" and shop, as well as doing the beach.

Any recommendations of "must see or do" at Grand Caymon?

The buses are really mostly vans. I don't know if they are the best, but they are the cheapest.

At the bus depot they will ask you where you want to go and tell you which "bus" to get on. Tell the driver where to let you off, just in case you don't recognize your destination.

The few other people on board will also be friendly and helpful.

The standard tour is Hell, the Turtle Farm, and a Rum Cake "factory". I imagine you could ask to be let off at seven mile beach after and then catch a taxi or bus back when you are done. The tours are readily available at the dock. The probably cost about $25 a person.

I don't have any experience with these people, but maybe you can arrange a private tour with them, if desired:

Most of the buses look somewhat similar

a typical bus stop, although you can also flag them down

Oh thank you for your reply, and the GOOD pictures. That really helps me out.

Question, and I don't know if you will be able to help me on this or not, but "if" you cruised, how far are these vans (walking distance) from where the ship docks?

Take a "bus" really a van from the cruise terminal to Calico Jacks - - you can walk all along 7 mile beach in either direction, jump in the water when you want to - -get a quick lunch and drink at Calico's - - walk out to the road and grab a van back to the terminal for $2.00

Yes, easy walking distance. Right next to the library.

Not sure if you can see this, but the Bus Depot is around 6D:

    Tender docks around 4F

    Grand Caymon - beaches/buses/vans

If I understood you right, you said I could walk directly to "Calico Jacks" and get the bus/van there? What is "Calico Jacks", an eating or what place? Is it on the corner or in the middle of the block, etc?

Zydecocruise, you gave me 3 sites to click on, but when I did, they were all blank.

Those links were to maps in the pdf format. If you don't have Adobe reader on your computer they won't open.

Ok, I understand, why I couldn't open them up.

Now if I get a van/bus and it goes to the 7-mile beach, how can a person know which beach they are at? Are there signs in front saying, Royal Palms, or Seagrape Beach?
