    Jet Flight to Cayman Brac

Following Paloma, the first Cayman Airways commercial jet flight is scheduled to depart for Cayman Brac at 5:30pm this afternoon. This flight is already fully booked. However, the return flight will bring passengers from the Sister Islands. It will be a mercy flight and will board on a first come, first served basis, with the 6pm to 6am curfew on Cayman Brac being adjusted to accommodate check-in. PLEASE NOTE: The flight will only be possible if the Gerrard Smith Airport runway has been successfully drained and swept in time.

    - Brac Damages

    Good evening all,

As quickly as Hurricane Paloma 'spun up' into a Cat 4 hurricane she has 'spun down' to a depression centered over Cuba. In her wake she left destruction to property in
    Cayman Brac, and Little Cayman.

Pictures tell the story of major damages to property in Cayman Brac, but thankfully no loss of life.
I attach some photos, thanks to my brother Roy and Glenda, who flew over in his Cessna 180 to assist with airlift and supplies. We are planning a trip tomorrow to both islands. I will take more pictures and post them.

Hopefully, Paloma will have used up all of the moisture in the Western Caribbean, and the approaching cold front will bring us some cooler weather with no chance of another storm forming.

    Have an enjoyable evening.
    William

This was posted on the Pleas for Help board - stormCARIB: Pleas for Help :: General Re: Cayman BracPosted by: Carolyn ShroyDate: November 09, 2008 01:44PMThis is about Cairb Sands and Moses K. Carib Sands has a lot of roof damage not sure which units or what the inside looks like. Its still very hard to get around. Moses K. is fine but his house lost it's roof. There are people hurt but no major injuries. This info came from my mother who is one of the managers at Brac Reef Beach Resort. ****** Gert van Dijken ( gert at vandijken.com )**** Caribbean Hurricane Network - Caribbean Hurricane Network - stormCARIB.com - Local Reports on Tropical Systems threatening the Caribbean Islands
Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.
