I love the Grand Cayman too. 5 times there, always have a blast. Have done most of the shore excursions and enjoyed them greatly. Shopping is always good and fun. Locals friendly. Any ideas on some excursions for my upcoming cruise on RCCL Liberty in November?
Add me to the list that love Grand Cayman. Have been there 3 times and going again in Feb. Always done the snorkel and/or stingray and snorkel but this time we are doing the turtle farm and Hell. Then we plan on some time in town. The people are just so friendly.

Thanks for the poll Lulu, it's very helpful. We're going to do the stingray thing and hopefully find a tour that offers another snorkeling spot or two.
We've been told that Hell was not that amazing a place to visit and the turtle farm is just turtles in tubs. People have made it sound that Sting Ray City and snorkeling are the only things worth doing. Is this really true? From the responses here it doesn't sound that way. Sounds like a great beach or shopping port. Is there anthing else we should check out? Rum Cake factory? Where is that at?

Will Lil'Red be with you?

Lil'Red will have his own fun getting spoiled by Grandma!
RCCL normally offers an excursion to snorkel with the stingrays on the COCKATOO. The Cockatoo is a large racing SAILING catamaran (won many races at one point). They did actually SAIL rather than motor like even some of the other sailing catamarans we've been on do. We enjoyed the sail as much as seeing the stingrays!

We did a sailing catamaran around Barbados when we swam with the sea turtles. We, too, enjoyed the sail as much as the swim and snorkel stops and when the tour was over, tried to convince the crew to take us around the island for another hour just so we could stay onboard.
Is the Cockatoo a large boat? Will I be fighting for swim room with all the other passengers and other tourists on other boats?

That 5-Hour Catamaran Excursion in Barbados is our favorite! That one is hard to beat!
The Cockatoo is quite large and we had no problems with space. It was a decent excursion. We liked it lots better that we one we did with Captain Morgan.
Did you see the excursion, "Turtles & Stingray Land & Sea Adventure"? I know nothing about it except that it takes you to all three you mentioned earlier -- turtle farm, rum cake factory, and stingray city ....

Earl doesn't seem much interested in the turtle farm but everyone in our party I am sure would like the rum cake factory. It's a hard decision. We may split up, there are now 2 more who have joined our group and they are more land tour people as well. The husband is taking it easy this cruise however as he's just starting to recover from radiation and chemo for lung cancer. This stop might just be Earl and I on a catamaran snorkeling and swimming with sting rays. The "old folks" can all go on an island tour and bring us back some rum cake.

There is run cake factory and there is rum cake factory. There is a small satellite one near Boatswain's Beach (which IS the turtle farm on steroids) that I think (?) is the one included on the island tour.
Years ago I was on the Cockatoo - was actually a stingray sandbar virgin on that one, so obviously the best one of all time, although I had flown over the sandbar before.
Maybe I can still find some pics.
