7 mile beach & shopping

We are going to the Caymans soon and would like to spend the day on 7 mile beach. We also want to do some great shopping. Can you recommend where we should get off the bus and/or taxi for a great beach and some awesome shopping. Appreciate your comments.

All the shopping is right by the dock where you get off the tenders, so you don't need any taxis for that.

And taxis are expensive in Grand Cayman, so you can grab public transportation out to 7-mile Beach - $2.50 per person each way anywhere on the island you want to go.

Hi OKIE! Welcome to CLF!

As Pete said, there's shopping right where your tender docks!

A good beach at 7-Mile is Grapevine Beach!

Thanks for the info. We were in the Cayman's probably 6 yrs ago. As I recall, we walked to the right after getting off the tenders. I don't recall seeing that much other than a Tortuga shop and maybe the Hard Rock. Have things changed drastically or would we be better off walking to the left. Also, there will be 3 of us. Do you think the bus is still cheaper. Thanks so much for your input.

It has changed alot in the last 6 years. Most of the shopping is to the right as you get off the tenders.

As for local transportation, it's definitely cheaper than taxis.

And I don't recommend Tortuga rum or their rum cake. There is much better rum and much better rum cake. They are just very good at marketing, but try others that are offered and I think you'll agree.

I've heard recently that the shopping in the Caymens is not that great, but that was from someone who has not been there in a couple of years. Have things changed since then? I LOVE to shop!

Don't know what they mean by 'not that great', guess it depends on what they wanted or were expecting.

I think the shopping there is fine. Everything is not cheap in comparison to other ports, but it's a British commonwealth, so it's nicer overall.
