Public Buses in Grand Cayman

Are an inexpensive way to get where you are going.

The bus station is next to the library which is not far from the tender docks. The buses are mostly mini-vans with the steering wheel on the wrong side.

The price is right!

A typical bus stop on the side of the road or you can flag them down.

Good pictures!!

We always use the local bus transportation when on Grand Cayman - very reliable and the cheapest way to get around. Much less expensive than taxis, that's for sure!

Does anyone know if the buses run on Christmas day?

Does anyone know if the buses go to/from the airport?

Does anyone have a detailed bus schedule or a weblink to one?

Can't find schedules for Grand Cayman's bus service, but this link gives the routes and maps.

Grand Cayman's Public Bus Service

I'm sure buses go to the airport. Can't even speculate whether or not they run on Christmas day. If they do I'm sure it will be on a limited service basis.

Hey Papa Smoke! (Is your name Ellis?)

Knowing how things in the Caymans close down for religious holidays, I'm not sure if the buses would run on Christmas Day or not.

Here is some info:

Quote:
Buses run on eight different routes that are color coded for easy recognition. The main bus depot is located in George Town. From there passengers may take advantage of the following schedules.
The bus from George Town to West Bay runs every 15 minutes and the fare is just under $2(USD) per person each way. This line runs from 6:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and until midnight on Friday and Saturday.

The bus from George Town to Bodden Town runs ever 30 minutes and the fare is also just under $2(USD) per person each way. This line runs from 6:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and until midnight on Friday and Saturday.

The bus from George Town to East End and North Side runs once ever hour and the fare is $2.50(USD) per person each way. This line runs from 6:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. Saturday through Thursday, and until midnight on Friday.

The public buses on Grand Cayman are a reliable, inexpensive way to see the area. Travelers often find the bus lines a great alternative to the expense of taxis or the hassle of navigating a rental car in foreign driving conditions. For more information on routes and schedules, call 345-945-5100 on Grand Cayman.

Exclamation Still wondering about Buses on Grand Cayman

First off, Thanks to all who have responded so far. We arrive on Christmas day via Grand Cayman Air. I have read in many places that there is no bus service to/from the airport. We need to get to Courtyard by Marriott (north 7 mile beach) for the 25th and the 26th (Boxing Day). THEN . . . I need to get back to the Hertz car rental location near the airport on the 27th so I can get our rental. After that, we head east to Morritt's Tortuga Club.

If the buses do NOT run to the airport, I am trying to find a bus that runs as close as possible to it so I can save big bucks on taxi service. Has anyone been there recently?

Yes, our name is ELLIS - Gregory & Donna.

I do have one more question for now....does anyone know where we can find the "Black Coral man" (the "ONE" who is "famous")??

Thanks again.
