Oh, ZY, I'm a tourist ... not a traveler!

Even so ... once I went to Eden Rock and snorkeled for FREE!

Please tell us about where you went for $6.00! Lots of folks would probably be interested.

It will cost you much more.

The $6 was for public bus transportation - could do it for as little as $5 but I let the driver keep the extra 50 cents each way.

Snorkeling is free at Cemetery Beach and is far less crowded than Eden Rock. It's at the far north end of 7 mile beach. No facilities, so it may not appeal to tourists?

Thank you. This was one of those days where most everything worked out! From talking to a regular after the fact, the water was exceptionally (but not unheard of) clear at the location.

I also discovered your grocery on the same trip!

As she said, public transportation is $2.50 per person each way any place you want to go on the island. Sure beats the high price of taxis!!

Pete .... Thanks again for this WONDERFUL info on Cemetery Beach! What a lovely uncrowded spot!

This is a place any "tourist" yearns to go ... even if we might be more likely to take a taxi and arrange for the driver to pick us up at a set time.

Knowing there will be a bus coming by if our taxi driver fails to show, is a BIG Plus! Do you happen to remember about how often a bus will be passing by?

Thanks again for this great information! Hope Canarymoon sees it so she can post it on the Snorkel/Dive section that she is nice enough to do.

Hi, LuLu;

Thanks, but I can't take the credit for that one; it was zydecocruiser who recommended Cemetary Beach. I just confirmed the cost of a taxi.

We actually like to go to the north end of 7-mile beach; there's a real nice place called Calico Jack's that we like. Beach is great, but not real good for snorkeling.

But the public transportation vans run about every 15 minutes. Never had to wait long and there are stops at all the popular places.

Actually if you head east the bus rate can go higher...

e.g. to the Botanic Park is $5 each way. Someday I'll make it there. Think blue iguanas!
