we have been there 4 times-all tendering 2 time because of rough seas we were not able to visit.
I read about people people booking their own tours here and wonder if they are refundable?

Excursions are refundable if booked with the ship, not independently!! The Dock is coming, here is the scoop!!!

Some independent companies will refund you if you can't get to the island. Before booking an independent tour, be sure to read the cancellation policies!

What do you do if they can not tender you to shore? Is it just another 'fun' day at sea? What time of the year was it when that happened? Sounds like that happens a lot.

We were in Grand Cayman last month and saw the new "tendering" facilities that are almost finished. I just did not want anyone to confuse that with a new "dock". The new "tendering" entry will be closer to Senor Frogs where as the current tendering entry is across the street from Jimmy Buffets new place.

We were there last month and we did tender. The old pier was destroyed by hurricane Ivan, and they have built a new pier for the tenders. It's big. I liked the old one much better....it had character.
